Oh, Dearest Mother, Sweetest Virgin of Altagracia, our Patroness. You are our Advocate and to you we recommend our needs. You are our Teacher and like disciples we come to learn from the example of your holy life. You are our Mother, and like children, we come to offer you all of the love of our hearts. Receive, dearest Mother, our offerings and listen attentively to our supplications. Amen.

Hello ladies. So, It has just come to my attention that baby #7 is coming in 6-7 weeks whether I am ready or not! We are somewhat settled in our old rectory and completely spoiled to have mass and weekly adoration next door! Now I am trying to fight the overwhelmed feeling but so want to "do what I can" to prepare to have this little blessing plop into our daily life. I have 3 concerns that are plaguing me now and would appreciate any suggestions or just encouragement (I should also mention that hubby is leaving for an 8 week mission trip next month and when he comes back it is a about 10 days until babytime. Also, neither grandma nor possibly hubby is going to be around much for 'settling in' time so I want to be organized so the kidos and I can relax ...and so my 13 year old does not go bananas.) Here are my issues/concerns:
1--For the first time I have an almost 2 year old who is not leaving our bed...in fact if he could sleep on top of me all night I think he would. DH has tried our usual tricks--walking him, cuddling him but to no avail. There is not a lot of room for mattresses on floors in this house but this week i am picking up a used toddler bed and twin to try him out in one (possibly all!)of his sibling rooms in desperation! I think when I was in my 20's I could have swung 2 in bed but now at 41 I wouldn't mind the whole bed to myself! Not to mention it is nice to have time with just dh before another baby comes:)

2-The second issue is my 4 year old son. Between our craziness of trying to sell our home (constantly getting our home show ready) and moving he is not potty trained. He is completely happy to pee/poop in his training pants or on the floor. He is trying but I am trying to figure out how I will get anywhere this winter if I have 3 in diapers! Perhaps it is God's plan to help us fight the flu.

3--Last March we packed up a ton of stuff to get our home show ready and had to start minimal school as I was showing the house while hubby was working in a new job out of town. We moved after school started this fall and had another interruption. Now I feel like we need to start 4 day weeks to get ready for baby and Christmas time. How do you trust that seasons like this even out in the long run? Should I just plan on summer school to make myself feel better:)

Sorry so long, so good to vent into cyberspace on a Monday! Thanks for reading.

Laura (Great with child in WI...emphasis on the 'great'...hmmm did the maternity clothes shrink since #6??)

Sometimes a little will go in with a sibling rather than into their own bed better.

Once they're that old.. especially boys.. I find that DAD and/or big brother works better for potty training

And 3 in diapers isn't the end of the world either.. you'll manage one way or the other.

Go ahead and plan on schooling into next summer if it makes you feel better.. but they will catch up. I think part of it is that things in public schools are so drawn out that we dont' realize how fast they can learn the material if we don't drag it out.. and if they find that they actually need/want to know the material

God bless you & all you have going on and coming up! My 2cents on the 3 issues you mentioned:

* I put a crib-sized mattress on the floor beside my bed, and lay down with the toddler at bedtime so they fall asleep there (and quietly creep away!). Yes they still wake up and crawl back into bed with us, maybe early in the night, but eventually they stay put longer & longer, and then get moved into a bed with a sibling.

* My boys toilet trained easiest when they could be bare-bottomed, inside or out, rewarded with candy , and encouraged to act like a "big boy" instead of messing their diapers like the baby in the family. Not very PC, but worked for me.

* I feel like I've had one interruption after another for years, and so I have the attitude that we "do school" year-round and in the evenings and on weekends, too. What I so carefully plan for "Tuesday morning" gets put off until "Saturday afternoon" and so on. I suppose it mostly depends on the particular individual needs of your kids how much structure & progress you plan for the post-partum weeks ahead.
