Has the quality of the jersey dresses changed in the last year or so? I have dresses from maybe 3-4 years ago that seem to be in better shape then the brand new ones I bought this year that have been washed a few times.
I love these dresses but I'm a little disappointed this year.

I have noticed that some seasons are better than others. I bought two last spring. One of them I ended up returning because the butterfly stitching came apart after about 5 washings. The other one has held up nicely. The Spring 09 jersey knit was nicer than some from over a year ago, so I think it varies. Frustrating when you plan for it to be a hand me down, huh?

I was very happy with the jersey knit skirts I bought for myself this past summer. I didn't realize how big Lands End runs though...

We've gotten four or five of these each season the last couple years and they seem to be holding up as well as the thrift store dress we have from several years back. Love these dresses!

Yes, the quality has been going down for a while. Although, the new dresses I just got actually seem a little better than last spring's dresses. What really gets me is that they aren't putting pockets in anymore! I guess that helps them keep the cost down. My girls wear the dresses everyday, so each dress two or three times a week. By the end of a season, they look worn, but in the past the dresses lasted through several girls. Some of our dresses in the past couple of years haven't made it through a whole season on one girl.

I think that Land's End quality has gone down, but they're still very accomodating about their guarenteed satisfaction. If something's not wearing like I think it ought to, I'm not afraid to return it.

I also miss the pockets. I have bought several dresses from Ebay for dd- who knows how many little girls they have been through- and they look very nice still. The one I bought new this spring is already fading a tiny bit at the waist where the bodice is sewn to the skirt.
There are a lot of the knit dresses in the overstocks section right now... including long sleeve ones.
