Oh, Dearest Mother, Sweetest Virgin of Altagracia, our Patroness. You are our Advocate and to you we recommend our needs. You are our Teacher and like disciples we come to learn from the example of your holy life. You are our Mother, and like children, we come to offer you all of the love of our hearts. Receive, dearest Mother, our offerings and listen attentively to our supplications. Amen.

I remembered this thread when I was pondering about how to avoid some public contact this flu season and was thinking about grocery delivery. We have one local store, Giant, that has a delivery service. But the couple of times I did it, when I had a baby number 5 I think, it seemed a bit more expensive (besides the delivery cost).

Anyhoo...after rereading this thread, I was wondering if any of you all use this for some of your grocery store items. I think it was Molly who said you could find some discounted items with Amazon and the S&S service can give you that extra 15% off. What products have anyone found to be cheaper with Amazon than with the local grocery...or at least really close?

Any info about this would be great! I know I'm going to experiment with the diapers at least!

ETA: We have Harris Teeter local too that will shop ahead for you so all you have to do is show up and pick up your bags. But I've always thought of HT has a higher end $$$ grocery store. Anyone use that service? Could you use coupons doing it that way?

Sure wish we had the old milkman around today!

I know of a mom who uses Amazon for her diapers and loves it. I think she gets free shipping too.

Sams Club has click and pull, I've never used it but I understand you can order online then they shop for you and have everything ready for you for pick up. Good idea, I think I will take advantage of some of these offers.

We do have a local milkman, glass bottles and all!

There are several local services that shop for you here in the 'burbs of Chicago. Very resonably priced. I used them when I was on bed rest.

What are the quantities that Amazon sells?

I looked and looked at Amazon's groceries, but since we buy so few name-brand things, the prices just couldn't compare with our local grocery stores.

We buy most of our drugstore type purchases at drugstore.com. The thing that really put us over to doing that was the Seventh generation diapers. We would buy them here locally for about the same but we have to go out the way to buy them. The prices are about the same but we get free shipping because of the cost and combined with our other purchases, wipes, shampoo, razors and such, we don't have to go to Target as much (Sorry, all I am a Target-aholic and tend to over spend there)

Also my dh set up this account with a Bing search engine and we get cash back with every purchase!!! Each store has a different % of cash back but if you do a lot of shopping on the internet, you might want to check it out

Bing Shopping

Oh, we buy our vitamins on drugstore.com too!

We do click-and-pull with Sam's Club sometimes. It's really nice!!!!! They won't pull meat, though, so when we need meat, it doesn't work.

Here's another try at the link It's working when I "preview post". If it doesn't work, I searched for "amazon delivery" and the thread I'm referring to that popped up was started by Mackfam and is titled "Amazon Prime Questions".

Thanks for the info so far!

Just deleting my origianl post. If you read it, I'm a bit moody today and I guess I was whining!!

I'll just say that we do Sam's click and pull once a month and I do get some gluten free items from Amazon on occasion.

My mom used to have an "egg lady" and a "milk man". I think there were even bread trucks back then. We were watching Andy Griffith the other night and Opey took a job as a delivery boy for the local grocery. Wouldn't that be nice! Both for the person ordering, and the young person to have a job to teach him or her responsibility.

I've done Sam's click-n-pull, and I like it. But, I'm almost 50 miles from the store. It's cheaper for me to pay the shipping and have them deliver it here than it is for me to drive to the store!
