I have a neighbor who is a dear Amish mom. We have been pregnant together twice now, both of my pregnancies were single births, both of hers have been twins (in succession!!  )! Her oldest is 7 and this will be babies number 6 and 7. She is just amazing and so very patient.
Annie is having a problem with extreme itching all over her body, our midwife is researching but so far nothing has helped and poor Annie hardly sleeps at night. Has anyone suffered thisduring pregnancy, especially a twin pregnancy? Do you have any ideas that may help her?

UPDATE:
Annie had her babies at home this past Thursday. She made it to 39 1/2 weeks. The first little guy was 8 lbs 5 oz and the next fella was a whopping 9 lbs 2oz!! She was huge!! The first one was a footling breech and the 2nd was also breech but mom and babies did awesome and they are home recovering.
Their names are Marvin and Melvin, that is so typical Amish! Reminded me of "Hi, I'm Larry. This is my brother Darrell and my other brother Darrell." 
I passed on your info suggestions to her and she was grateful. This makes 6 boys and 1 girl all under the age of 7. Wow.

When I read this I thought, 'liver?' and I did find this:

I understand you can ask for a test to see if you have elevated bile acid? I think this can be serious, or has the potential to be, but I'd just get the test first and let the doctor explain further, if in fact she has this condition.

A friend of mine has this during pregnancy. She also found out she has thyroid issues this pregnancy (she is due Jan). She also sleeps with ice packs wrapped around her arms. She itches the most there and was bleeding too much with her scratching. She said the ice packs have really helped...no cream worked.

I had extreme itching with my third (not a twin). My doctor called the problem interhepatic colestatis (I'm sure I spelled those wrong...). Basically, the liver is not removing enough toxins from the blood and it makes your body itch all over. It was so bad, tried scratching with a hair brush, washcloths, I only slept for about an hour at a time. I cried a lot from frustration, exhaustion and hormones.
On a positive note, the itching disappeared as soon as Olivia was born.
This was before I knew anything about natural remedies, so I can't recommend anything. Nothing really worked. They ended up taking her by c-section at 34 weeks because I was such a mess. Hopefully your midwife can find a solution if you mention this condition as a possibility.
I will be praying for her.

I also have a friend who has this.. SUNLIGHT.. she says it has helped her soooo much.. rather like using the bili-lights to help with a jaundiced infant.

I have no advice for this, but how miserable it sounds! I hope that all the women you have all spoken about are able to do something to help this. Oh I can't imagine!

From my reading cholestasis can be a very serious condition and needs seeing by a Doctor. Liver damage can become permanent. And with a twins pregnancy she should definitely have it checked out.
If she has something as simple as PUPPS it's happily very benign, but terribly uncomfortable. It's worth seeing a doctor as he can give a prescription and watch the problem, permanent liver damage is nothing to sneeze at.

I have had ICP in several pregnancies, this last time being the most serious as I had to be induced at 34 weeks because my liver function was becoming compromised. Definitely need the proper bloodwork (bile acids and liver enzymes) and very good care. And my prayers. It is just about the most awful condition, nighttime is the worst and can even lead to depression. There are risks to the babies, so she should get it checked out asap.
