Oh, Dearest Mother, Sweetest Virgin of Altagracia, our Patroness. You are our Advocate and to you we recommend our needs. You are our Teacher and like disciples we come to learn from the example of your holy life. You are our Mother, and like children, we come to offer you all of the love of our hearts. Receive, dearest Mother, our offerings and listen attentively to our supplications. Amen.

My eleven year old son would like some information about the war in Iraq and Afghanistan.

Any websites you could recommend? I don't let him read the newspaper articles about it. He is a big history buff and gets Military History magazine.

Thanks.

I believe there is a StudentNewsDaily.com, which is good. My son also is a history buff. This website is pretty conservative and does a very good job covering the war. Just last night my ds and dh had a great discussion about the war and my son was very knowledgeable because of this website.

Which Military Hist. magazines does your son receive? I'm sure my son would be intersted in those. Could you provide a website?

Dear Nina,

Thank you for recommending Student News Daily. I bet he would love keeping up to date that way.

Military History magazine is the one we get.

Some articles contain quotes of curse words, and on occasions they mention things like pros^ # t (utes   [trying to disguise that word].

Those things are rare and not made much of. Overall the magazine is fantastic. I like neither history nor military stuff and I read nearly every article. Time frame is from many years B.C. to current times. I highly recommend it.

Oh, and sometimes pictures of casualties of war are published but they usually aren't graphic (I'm thinking of some B&W photos they've shown). Just to let you know. The first issue we ever got featured all the battles St. Joan of Arc fought in, and mentioned the religious aspects of it but did not say "she was right" or "she was wrong."

I can't say if the magazine is liberal or conservative, but they are pro-military! (No bad advertisements, either.)

Thanks Kelly. I'll show this to my husband. Maybe a nice Christmas gift for my ds .
