Oh, Dearest Mother, Sweetest Virgin of Altagracia, our Patroness. You are our Advocate and to you we recommend our needs. You are our Teacher and like disciples we come to learn from the example of your holy life. You are our Mother, and like children, we come to offer you all of the love of our hearts. Receive, dearest Mother, our offerings and listen attentively to our supplications. Amen.

I am searching for audio history resources. My ds is definitely an audio learner and not a keen historian, I thought this to be a painless way to ensure he learns some history.

I know of Story of the World, What other sources are there, if any?

We have enjoyed Gombrich's A Little History of the World.

MacBeth recommended this on a thread and I found it when I was researching this summer -- How the Catholic Church Built Western Civilization by Thomas Woods, read by Barrett Whitener. We're almost ready to start listening to it in history. It is available for download from audible.com.

Thank you I was coming back to ask if anyone had Catholic recs as well.
I've been going through the archives to see what sort of slant Gombich has regards Catholicism; so was thinking I would need some more Catholic viewpoint to counter balance.
FYI Gombrich is considered pretty good by everyone here but with some bias.

Checked out audible, I'm a little confused as to how it works. Hoping you can help. If I join it is about $8 for the first three months and $15 thereafter. It appears I get one free download a month, how much do I have to pay for other downloads? Do I get a discount?

Thought to share for anyone else Librivox have a few of HE Marshall's books to download for free!

Does anyone know of other history authors I could try?   There is so much there it is overwhelming.

I don't really know, Erin...I linked it because when I searched around Amazon the CD set was WAY more expensive than when we purchased, but the audible download seemed reasonable, so I linked it. I'm sorry I can't help - I've never use them. But, it seems like something like that would be a great option for you so you don't have to deal with shipping charges.

Maybe someone else that uses Audiovox has some insight?

The book How the Catholic Church Built Western Civilization is well worth buying..I've bought it..twice! (I keep loaning it out). I highly recommend this for high school history students and for adults who need a Catholic perspective on history. Provides plenty of information for apologetics, too.

Knowledge Products used to have cassette tapes for the Constitution, and all the American wars. It had actors reading letters, accounts of battles etc and was narrated by George C Scott. They're for 7th grade up, though.
