I just received a fun book on the rainforests entitled The Rainforest Grew All Around. The book itself is a fun "jingle" in the pattern of the song "There Was a Tree", but the best part of the book is that it is linked to a wonderful site maintained by the publisher, Sylvan Dell, which has a ton of learning ideas, quizzes, and information for each book. Their books focus on nature topics; I'm not sure about the ideology, but the resources (look for the links on the right side of the page, and then on the right side of the next page) are terrific. The web resources are intended for the use of those who purchase the book. However, they are free and there is no need to register to use them. We also bought their book Turtle Summer.

One other nice feature is that the very simple rhyming text is accompanied by more detailed information in sidebars.

The founder of Sylvan Dell was a homeschooler herself. I get no impression one way or another about her personal belief system. The company only publishes science and math books for elementary school. They are looking for all sciences, but they have mostly nature books. I am an early reviewer for them and I really like their product line.
