Oh, Dearest Mother, Sweetest Virgin of Altagracia, our Patroness. You are our Advocate and to you we recommend our needs. You are our Teacher and like disciples we come to learn from the example of your holy life. You are our Mother, and like children, we come to offer you all of the love of our hearts. Receive, dearest Mother, our offerings and listen attentively to our supplications. Amen.

I wasn't quite sure which forum to post regarding board games
The boys and I were out with friends to Chapters yesterday and in the game section we saw a settlers of catan board game . It looks like something the kids might like and also play with friends . From description on the net it sounds similar to the online runescape maybe .
Do any of your children or family play this ? We really aside from chess and scrabble play board games any longer . Might be nice to try something other than the online gaming we always do .
So anyone care to share expereince , opinion etc.
Thanks a bunch , Roxie
also feel free to move topic to which ever forum is appropriate

We LOVE it!

Awesome game!

Can't wait to get the knights and castles extention pack.

for my birth day or christmas.

hint. hint.

oh and there's online versions as well, but I'm a big time kinetic person and like boardgames and books made out of paper.

I LOVE Settlers of Catan! It's lots of fun. Definitely for older kids, though, who can strategize. If they can play Axis and Allies, Risk, Chess, they should be fine, though.

Oh, we have this game on our wish list for Christmas since playing with my nieces and nephews.

Highly recommend and what they all love about it is that the board changes every time you play!

I'll note that it's not that hard to for the young-ish crowd. a 6 yr old can read it with a bit of help on the card they need to read (until they've played enough to know by the picture).

And yes, board changing is great!

Oh and get the 6 player extention pack even if only 3 or 4 of you play. It adds a lot more fun to the game, imho.

Hands down our favorite game! DH and I play all the time. We've never tried to play it with the kids- I think it'd be over their heads, but mine are all 7 and younger.

Worth every penny!

A favourite around here as well! I do have friends whose (at the time) 5 year old was able to beat them on occasion—but they are _quite_ fanatical game players:-) That and 'Ticket to Ride' are popular family games among my circle.

(We're not such fanatical game players, so we haven't quite introduced it to our 5 year old... but that reminds me that he's probably about the right age to give it a go:-) )
