Oh, Dearest Mother, Sweetest Virgin of Altagracia, our Patroness. You are our Advocate and to you we recommend our needs. You are our Teacher and like disciples we come to learn from the example of your holy life. You are our Mother, and like children, we come to offer you all of the love of our hearts. Receive, dearest Mother, our offerings and listen attentively to our supplications. Amen.

I've been feeding my 2yod to sleep for a good few months now, since she stopped liking going to sleep in her cot. Well, it's not working anymore. (For me, anyway. She loves it!) It takes forever and I effectively have no evening, no time with my older children and not enough time with my husband.

I want to transition her gently to going to sleep on her own. Eventually she and her 4yo sister will share a room. At the moment they both go to sleep in separate rooms.

Would I be insane to put them both together now so she has company while she's learning to go to sleep on her own? Her sister goes to sleep beautifully on her own and I wouldn't want to wreck that, of course.

Could I make this work?

Pam

We have found twice now that our kids were always more ready for their own rooms than we thought they would be. My two older kids sleep in the same room--actually with their beds pushed up together. My daughter actually does better because her older brother is with her and asleep. She pretty much falls asleep on her own as long as he is asleep.

I also have very good luck putting the kids to bed together. It's a gentler transition I think from sleeping with mom to sleeping with/near a sibling rather than going from having someone close to no one.
