I have a reader on my blog whose blog looks so interesting. Unfortunately for me its in German. I have a vague idea that there is a translator butto/program out there. Does anyone know how I can translate a German blog to English?

I worked it out!! You paste the blog url into your google reader and then click on the settings button for that blog, drops down and you click on translate into my language:) I do still see all the German so it is not neat.   If someone knows of a better way do tell me:)

go to translate.google.com and put the url in. i don't know if that would be different than reader, but that's what i do.

just a note/caution that the translations on google are really really bad - dh and I have converted mine to both French and Italian for family/friends to read - and they translate awfully (dh is fluent in Italian and we both are in French) - so I really hesitate to tell anyone to translate.....

oh yes. you are so right. i've had some really funny translations using google. i don't know if babelfish is any better (or is that the same program and google bought them?). i guess for deeper reading it wouldn't do. i mostly use it for translating recipes so most of the time i already have an idea what it is just from having a working knowledge of the language, and just need confirmation of a few things. but where you need more accuracy that wouldn't be the best advice.

I would agree the that the translation is not the best, the sentences come out rather disjointed, but still the translator is a start. (I won't be learning German anytime soon)

She writes in at least 3 languages: German , Italian and English. She lives in northern Italy, which was once a part of the Austrian-Hungarian empire, that is the reason for the German and the reason she can homeschool her children. It is not Germany.
