Oh, Dearest Mother, Sweetest Virgin of Altagracia, our Patroness. You are our Advocate and to you we recommend our needs. You are our Teacher and like disciples we come to learn from the example of your holy life. You are our Mother, and like children, we come to offer you all of the love of our hearts. Receive, dearest Mother, our offerings and listen attentively to our supplications. Amen.

I'm hoping some seasoned Math-U-See users can help me out. My brain seems to be in a constant fog lately. Right now, I'm using Alpha, Beta and Gamma (after having switched from Saxon). I know the Beta and Gamma children can move ahead quickly, as my ds finished Saxon 2 and my dd was about 30 lessons from completing Saxon 54. I'm not familiar with the method, and am so busy with so many things besides MUS, that if I read 1 lesson the night before, I don't remember in the morning what I read or how to implement it. It seems like too much to attempt a lesson from all 3 books at once. Can someone help me by suggesting a method that would make this transition smoother? What do days with multiple MUS levels look like in your home?
TIA!

Did you get the DVDs?

I have 3 levels here. On Monday, we all watch the DVDs. Then do page A and D. Tuesday it's D and E finishing up with C and F on Wednesday. On Thursday we take the test. That way they're not working too long on the new stuff but can fly right through the review (at least in theory).

I'm there to help if needed but the DVDs are very good at explaining it all.

We do exactly the same thing that KC does, and that is mostly independently, too. I don't even read the lessons ahead of time, to be honest with you. They do page A. I check to see if they understood and let them continue with D. If they don't understand, I watch the dvd with them to see what they missed and then we play with the blocks for awhile until they get it.

Honestly, MUS is so clear that I rarely have to do this, almost never on the same day as another child. MUS ought to be called, No More Tears for Mom.

Hmmmm.... we just do one page a day. My mathey 8 year old son would not have been able to handle the lesson and 2 pages on one day. I have them watch the lesson (or I teach it), and do the first page. For my mathy kids then if there were no problems they would do the first review page the next day and the test the next. For my ones who need more work we just plug away at a page a day until it sticks!

I like that, KC....one page from new and one from review!

Thanks!

I love this idea!! I don't know why I've never thought of it. We've always just done A-F and then the test.

After watching the DVD we made sure the concept was learned in A, then B, then D, E, F and stuck C in there somewhere. We worked on a timer so by 8th grade she was up to 45 minutes a day. Started somewhere around 20 minutes in 3rd/4th grade. 20 minutes of honest effort was less "debilitating" to my girls.
Good luck,Viv
