That title is kind of lame, but I didn't know how else to word it. I am supposed to be at our soccer fields from 4:30 to 7:00PM two times per week. Umm...how do I feed my family dinner?
Thankfully, we are all in one place...different fields but same location.
Eating early doesn't seem quite right. 4:00 dinner? Eating late doesn't seem right either because we'll get home at 7:20 and we still have baths and bedtime before too late.
Bring dinner to the field?? My poor husband will miss eating with us twice a week for a month. Should I just get over that?
Suggestions?
Thanks,
DeAnn

My oldest has soccer a few times a week, too. We've been eating a big snack before we go to the field. For supper we either eat leftovers or something out of the crockpot that's ready when we get home.
Yes, we are eating dinner at 7:30, but it's been working out ok.
You could always pack the cooler with sandwiches, veggies, fruit and things. That's just more work than I have time for, though! :)

I like something in the crockpot at home late with a substantial "snack" early but bedtime here is 9pm so a later dinner works.

We have soccer 5 days a week - lucky my husband does many of the evening for me as he is coaching all the boys. For those days I am out late too with music and ballet I have crockpot dinners. We have tea time at 3.30 and dinner at 7.
You could also do a major meal at lunch and snackier dinner?
We are actually doing very substantial breakfasts(all these boys need protein to get through the morning!!) - and my husband always has breakfast with us.

I knew a woman who fed her children their big meal at 3:30 when they got home from school. They were always hungry then and had activities through dinner. Her dh worked late anyway, and would eat a plate when he got home. She then gave the kids a largish snack before bath and bed. It worked great during that very busy time.
I would definitely consider packing dinner. Something to keep those not practicing busy. Can your dh meet you there and eat with at least some of you?
God Bless,
Anita

We used to eat our main meal at 3:30 and then a snack at the field.
My dh never eats diner with us during the week so that was not an issue.

We have football 3 nights a week right in the middle of the dinner hour too. It's worse on Tuesdays when my dd has piano before the boys have football, without enough time in between to go home for a bit. We eat a snack before going, and on those days I have something in the crockpot or a big pot of soup keeping warm on the stove for when we get back. Sitting down for dinner as a family is really important to me, even if that means it's at 7:30, 3 nights a week. Football season doesn't last forever though (even though it seems like it does!)
