Oh, Dearest Mother, Sweetest Virgin of Altagracia, our Patroness. You are our Advocate and to you we recommend our needs. You are our Teacher and like disciples we come to learn from the example of your holy life. You are our Mother, and like children, we come to offer you all of the love of our hearts. Receive, dearest Mother, our offerings and listen attentively to our supplications. Amen.

Every child of ours has received a photoalbum the rest of our family put together for him/her. Using a bunch of magazines, we cut out pictures that the child might find interesting..cats, dogs, food, etc. Even pictures of the child him/herself! And other family members as well! The front page is colourful with the child's name on it. And the last few pages were holy cards, one page of Guardian Angels, one page of pictures of Jesus, one of Mary and if you could find a Holy Card of their Patron Saint, that's always fun!

One of those hammers that you can bang that makes a different noise each time you hit it. My 1 yo is enjoying anything that has balls to put in and out. Any of those books with the doors that open and close are really great(I like the Spot books).

This has been a hit at my house.

My son received a Gertie Ball and he is LOVING IT! It's very light and squishy so he can handle it well.

Don't know how much you have to spend, but my nephew just got one of these: Classic Walker Wagon and loves pushing it around - it's easy transportation of a limited number of toys from room to room and helps make putting toys away fun! (Wish we'd had one...)

I am absolutely loving this idea ... however cannot see that DH would be happy with a $90. purchase for a walker though - so sad . I am trying to see if Craigslist might have a used one in my area for less???

Thanks for all the suggestions ladies!

What about getting a smallish/less expensive toy (the dump truck suggestion sounds great!) as well as a nice book that can be read to him and kept as a lasting memory even after he is too old for a toy dump truck? I'm thinking something like starting or adding to a collection of the little Beatrix Potter books or, our little boy favorite, Drummer Hoff.

Peace,
Nancy
