Some friends of ours gave birth to a beautiful baby girl named Cecilia a few weeks ago who had to be rushed into surgery right after birth to correct a section of bowel that was twisted and perforated. She came through the surgery beautifully and they had planned on releasing her to go home before performing a second surgery to reconnect the bowel but she has recently started to lose weight. Please pray that she will start gaining weight and be able to go home with her family. Otherwise, the family will have to stay with her in the NICU until she can have the second surgery. They are severely constrained financially by this arrangement and their 8 other children are missing them while in the care of an aunt at home. They live very far away but not far away enough to qualify for the Ronald McDonald House. Thank you for your prayers!
UPDATE 1:
Cecilia will be one month old tomorrow on the Feast of St. Maximilian Kolbe. Her health is stable and her weight is staying the same. She is not gaining weight so the medical team is giving her special TPN feedings. The surgeon anticipates Cecilia will have surgery to reconnect her intestines in about 4 weeks and then be hospitalized about 2 weeks.
