Oh, Dearest Mother, Sweetest Virgin of Altagracia, our Patroness. You are our Advocate and to you we recommend our needs. You are our Teacher and like disciples we come to learn from the example of your holy life. You are our Mother, and like children, we come to offer you all of the love of our hearts. Receive, dearest Mother, our offerings and listen attentively to our supplications. Amen.

Jenn,

I must have had the same problem you did. At the time I got my sling, they only made size medium (or at least that was all that was available) and it never worked right. I even pulled the pillow part through the ring trying to make it fit. My first dc had to be carried all the time - was the "come up for air" variety. I'm 5'1'' (if I stretch and stand really straight)so whatever I use has to allow for that - plus for heavy babies, and babies that must face outward even as newborns.

The other problem I had was that none of my children liked to be facing in, could not stand anything rubbing skin (like the side of the sling) and had to face outward, even from birth. I got lots of funny looks with my newborns because they always wanted to be held like a sack of potatoes - they all had great neck control very early. Our babies tended to the larger size except our first featherweight (8lb 11 0z to 11 lb at birth). We tried a lot of different versions and none seemed to work well (but I am not an internet guru so I was limited to locally available). I ended up just carrying dc and learning to use my feet a lot. Toddlers turned pages when we read books, etc. However, cooking and any cleaning were really chores. I got a hiking backpack that I used for cooking and cleaning. But it was much too bunglesome for regular use and I did want to see my babies too.

If we are so blessed with another, I know where I'll ask for recommendations!!!

Janet
