Many years ago I worked hard to get my ds's first holy communion at the church closest to most of my family. In another state for us, a 2 day drive away. It was the church dh did his RCIA at, we were married in, and ds was baptized. I knew no one would come here to Ohio-except my parents. I wanted it to be extra special for my son. I had to work with a new church here(they didn't know us, we were-gasp-homeschoolers, and requesting a sacrament at another church) and the church there and coordinate the whole mess. I scheduled it for the Sunday we were having a party for my grandmothers 95th birthday. I figured we wouldn't take away from her party and just do the mass and go to her party.
My mom had to work hard to get my brother and sister to come to the mass. They are his godparents. Sad. None of my cousins came to mass(at 11am). To me, more sad. We all were raised in the church and went to each others sacraments. None of them are practicing now.
Now, my cousin's son(his wife is Jewish) is making his Bar Mitzvah in October. My parents are going, my sister is flying in, my brother will drive down.
I was going to skip this event due to funds and time.
And, I guess because I am hurt.
I need some help praying for forgiveness. I was hurt when ds had his FHC and only the "old folks" were there. Now, it hurts more. Especially when everyone is making these efforts for my cousin's son.
So, if you could just add this small intention I would appreciate it.
Anne

Adding my prayers, Anne.
Perhaps allowing your heart to focus on the great joys of assisting one of your children to the beautiful First Sacraments will give you something wonderful to rejoice over and thus remove your attention from the hurt.
to you and many prayers - forgiveness is hard when we are hurt!

Who knows what makes people tick? Every time I speculate as to the "whys", I don't figure out the real answer; all it does is deepen the hurt. Praying for you to be able to forgive. It's not an easy thing.
Peace,
Nancy

Praying, Anne.
It's so hard to forgive people who can't even realize they've hurt you, let alone say they are sorry.

Anne, this is so painful, I'm praying that you can forgive and let go, remembering them at Mass and at Holy Communion is an effective way..it's so hard though, forgiveness is something Divine and only His Grace can allow us to embrace it.
