Oh, Dearest Mother, Sweetest Virgin of Altagracia, our Patroness. You are our Advocate and to you we recommend our needs. You are our Teacher and like disciples we come to learn from the example of your holy life. You are our Mother, and like children, we come to offer you all of the love of our hearts. Receive, dearest Mother, our offerings and listen attentively to our supplications. Amen.

Can anyone recommend an inespensive site online to buy the most basic of art supplies. Especially butcher paper, construction paper, finger paint, crepe paper, felt, cardstock, etc. Thank you.

Does it have to be online? I'd usually go to Michael's or Hobby Lobby for that stuff. It's fairly inexpensive there, and you could buy a little at a time with the Michael's 40% off coupon that is regularly in the paper. That is how I've collected most of my art supplies - a little at a time with the coupon.

I'll have to search through my bookmarks to see if I can find a source online...

I went to michaels and was shocked at teh rpice of some of the things like construction paper. i'd be better off at walmart. I just wanted the ease of doing it online all at once. Also michaels was out of stock of a lot of things or just didn't carry some colors of felt, that kind of thing. Also I couldn't find butcher paper anywhere.

here's a place i ordered from years back -- and then i just replenish every year from wal-mart, michaels or joann.

Maybe it depends on what size Michaels you have there. We have two in the area that are very different -- one has hardly anything and the other one feels almost like a supermarket . Or maybe the one you went to just hasn't restocked yet for the upcoming school opening season.

also try hardware stores for butcher paper -- i remember a long time ago buying butcher paper from Home Depot.

Oh good, Stef...because I couldn't find anything in my bookmarks...

I save butcher paper from boxes when it is used as packing material. I just straighten it out, fold it and put it away and that's what we use.

I thought Dick Blick's prices were reasonable, especially their store brand. And I did like the convenience of ordering all our art supplies at one time from the comfort of home!

I think their prices are reasonable as well. I highly recommend getting theirClass Room Art Catalog. It makes looking for what we would actually use with our children much lest daunting than trying to sift through all of the professional art products, IYGWIM? You need to check their catalog and online to get the best price. If you call customer service they will adjust your order to match the best price AND they are great at helping you decide if you can't figure out what you need. Also, keep looking on line too as they have specials from week to week. Some are better than others, but $20 off of $100, with $5.95 shipping makes their prices hard to beat (however, as I am writing this they have none this week).

Oh yes, Dick Blick, how could I forget! And if you're near a DB store get their member card. I don't like that you can't use it online though, just at their store.

here's their brown paper

Do you have a Costco? I noticed it carried construction paper.

I never thought about Dick Blick for basic supplies....I'll have to go check through my catalog - I just never even considered it! If the prices are reasonable that would certainly make replenishing some of those basics easier than a trip into town with everyone! I the guy in the big brown truck!!!

I love Dick Blick online. They carry much more than Michael's, which is an hour away anyway, and their prices are reasonable. If you sign up for their e-mailings, they will email you special offers which sometimes end up being 50% or more off.

It's also nice because you can find higher quality supplies there than places like Wal-Mart or Discount School Supply (linked above... which I have also ordered from in the past. )

Rainbow Resources also carries a lot of basic supplies at really good prices.

The Michael's in my area is also way overpriced, so I commiserate. The only way I buy there is with the 40% coupon. Otherwise, I am better off at Walmart. Just one example: 50 sheets of black cardstock at Micheal's here is $4. 150 sheets at Walmart is $6.

Target has 96 sheet packs of construction paper for 88 cents this week. Not sure if that is online or just in-store.
