Oh, Dearest Mother, Sweetest Virgin of Altagracia, our Patroness. You are our Advocate and to you we recommend our needs. You are our Teacher and like disciples we come to learn from the example of your holy life. You are our Mother, and like children, we come to offer you all of the love of our hearts. Receive, dearest Mother, our offerings and listen attentively to our supplications. Amen.

I was wondering what kind of thermometer you use in your house?

Do you have more than one? If you have a bunch of sick kids do you disinfect the thermometer after each use? What's your favorite method of sterilizing a digital thermometer (that's what I've got right now)?

We've been going through some kind of virus that has everyone spiking high fevers - Aidan woke up with 103.5 this morning!

I use a digital and mainly do the under arm method so disinfecting it isn't really a consideration.

I use a clorox wipe and then rinse with cold water.

from someone who never manages to ever have a thermometer in the house.......yes, I know, I an RN....but, I just never have one!

I bought one once a few years ago.........and somehow they broke it with the first illness!

All that to say.........I am praying they all feel better soon!!

When my big kids were littler and at that stage where they were getting sick every other week it seemed, I bought a digital thermometer for each of them and wrote their initial on it. They were not expensive and are still going strong today. Doing it this way, I don't stress so much about disinfecting until the end of the illness to prevent reinfection. My dentist was the one who recommended using Listerine to disinfect. It cleans just like alcohol but tastes better!

We have an aural (ear) digital thermometer. It has little caps to cover the "business end" but I don't change them that often - the readings are accurate and fast. I don't clean it, just discard a cap if the ear was dirty/waxy or I suspect an ear infection. The children love having their temp taken actually and everyone has to have a go/take mama's temp etc.

I use a temporal scan thermometer. I just wipe with a Clorox wipe, if I'm using it on more than one person. I love this thermometer. You can check a temp without waking a sleeping person, and they are very accurate.
