Oh, Dearest Mother, Sweetest Virgin of Altagracia, our Patroness. You are our Advocate and to you we recommend our needs. You are our Teacher and like disciples we come to learn from the example of your holy life. You are our Mother, and like children, we come to offer you all of the love of our hearts. Receive, dearest Mother, our offerings and listen attentively to our supplications. Amen.

I was working in my vegetable garden and noticed a few fluffy white things. At first I thought they were just fluff, but now I see they are fluffy white caterpillars, very small (1/2 to 3/4 inch long).

I was going out to destroy them, but thought I'd try to ID first. no luck on the computer. I'll try to get a camera shot. They are hanging around the zucchini plant.

I couldn't get a close-up. It's actually a pale, pale, yellow fuzz, with green underneath. And it was hanging on the carrot plants mostly, near the zucchini.

It sounds like a puss caterpillar

The babies are white, but they get bigger and orange and sting badly if you touch them!

Oh, those look scary! No, that's not them. These are skinny almost run-of-the-mill kind of green caterpillar with white/soft yellow fuzz.

Fall Webworm seems closest, I guess. I read one place that they vary, and can be green in body, like these are underneath the fuzz. I didn't see many marking. Perhaps they are too little/young to ID yet? I'm dunking them in precaution, anyway.

I'm such a neophyte when it comes to nature. We're just plugging away at the basics....
