Oh, Dearest Mother, Sweetest Virgin of Altagracia, our Patroness. You are our Advocate and to you we recommend our needs. You are our Teacher and like disciples we come to learn from the example of your holy life. You are our Mother, and like children, we come to offer you all of the love of our hearts. Receive, dearest Mother, our offerings and listen attentively to our supplications. Amen.

I am on the lookout for a new, good read - preferably a book on homeschooling.

I don't mind purchasing a new one, so it doesn't have to be readily available in libraries.

Any suggestions?

TIA!

Well, I unfortunately haven't read this one, but it's on my wish list. Have any of you all read it?

Leonie -- I just read Homeschooling -- Take A Deep Breath: You CAN Do This by Terri Lynn Bittner.

I thought it had ome great information -- I had many "duh" moments -- and I liked the way she wrote. She's Mormon, but that's not even touched on in the book; religion is given a very small piece of the overall.

She also has a web-site, if you're itnerested in checking that out: Treasured Time for Homeschoolers. I think you'd enjoy it Leonie!

Leonie-
You read my mind! I'm so glad you posted this because I was thinking to do the exact same. I can't wait to hear from everyone.

Thanks all. Since I am on rest for the next week, I am going to have lots of reading time!

Jennifer, I love Homeschooling Our Children, Unschooling Ourselves. The author, Allison McKee, is honest about her struggles and her joys.

And I always love real life homeschool stories.

Not a book but, I just discovered that our library carries the magazine Practical Homeschooling. I bought a stack home and have had a great time reading them. A more traditional, more driven style of homeschooling but interesting to read about.
Don't know if the magazine makes it to Australia though .

Here's a new one!

And here's the table of contents. I see a few familiar names in there . The book should be on sale in about two weeks. It's published by Sophia Press.

It's out now! It's on sale! I stopped by my local Catholic gift shop this morning (which is all too conveniently in the mall next to my grocery store ) and there it was on the shelf!

It looks wonderful and it has just found its way to the top of my reading stack !
