Oh, Dearest Mother, Sweetest Virgin of Altagracia, our Patroness. You are our Advocate and to you we recommend our needs. You are our Teacher and like disciples we come to learn from the example of your holy life. You are our Mother, and like children, we come to offer you all of the love of our hearts. Receive, dearest Mother, our offerings and listen attentively to our supplications. Amen.

Does anyone have a recommendation for cooking software to organize recipes? I recently sorted through all my piles of clipped and scribbled recipes, and I'm determined to get things organized (I'm not sure when, with a baby due any day, but maybe this is my way of nesting). I considered just typing them all up in Word, but I'd really like something that would allow me to search for recipes, modify amounts, maybe even give me nutritional analysis options.

Any advice would be most welcome!

Hi Lisa! I'm currently using Sierra's Mastercook 5 Deluxe to type up all my recipes and keep everything organized. I see I'm behind a few versions, so maybe I should upgrade to Mastercook 9? It's not expensive!

We had a similar thread. Not only am I entering recipes for my home use, but also family recipes from both sides.

This is one of my projects I am working on to finish in the next month or so. At Costco this winter there were some empty recipe binders, with tabs and 2-sided 50 fancy pages, splash guards, pocket dividers, magnets, and notepad with 4 different designs. The size fits 8 1/2 x 11 pages with 3 hole punch, so when I run out of the fancy stationery, I can still put in just plain white pages. The binders cost about $9.00.

The software allows me to put nutritional info, change portions, format and print the way I want it. It comes with many recipes already, but you can create your own "cookbook." It was so easy to use -- I installed and was immediately able to type in my recipes with very little instruction. The best part is that when I start typing in ingredients it finishes the sentence for me...there are many choices to fill in the lines, so you're not typing it all from scratch. I had a stack of recipes for my sister-in-law and I was able to type them in much faster than I had anticipated.

Short answer, I'm very pleased.

Thank you, Jenn. I did look back through the old topics to see if I could find a thread about this, but I guess I missed it! I looked at what was available on Amazon.com, since I have a gift certificate to use there, and MasterCook gets the best reviews, so I will probably go with that.

No, you didn't miss it. I don't think a search for cookbook software or one of the above would have drawn it out. I found it because 1) I started it and 2) I searched for the name of the software, MasterCook.
