Oh, Dearest Mother, Sweetest Virgin of Altagracia, our Patroness. You are our Advocate and to you we recommend our needs. You are our Teacher and like disciples we come to learn from the example of your holy life. You are our Mother, and like children, we come to offer you all of the love of our hearts. Receive, dearest Mother, our offerings and listen attentively to our supplications. Amen.

I know it is summer and most people are taking a break from lessons, but I wanted to share a craft that I made for my 5yr old dd to go along with the alphabet path that Elizabeth has so kindly made available to us. I made her an alphabet quilt. I started it way back in the fall and worked on it a little at a time and then didn't work on it for a while. But I finally finished it on Sunday, even though we had already finished the alphabet path. My original plan was to embroider each square the week that we did that letter, but as you all know, life got in the way. So I ended up doing several letters at the end. But I hope it is a reminder of the fun we had doing the alphabet path together. I thought that another way to do it besides embroidering the letters would be to applique them on the squares. Anyway, I just wanted to share. My 12 yr old dd came up with the quilt idea.

What a lovely idea! This gets me thinking. We have been doing the alphabet path and are only 1/2 way through and will finish this coming year. We have all been enjoying it! My oldest daughter is turning 7 and I have been thinking of teaching her embroidery this year. Hmm . . . maybe have her make simple squares that I can sew into a quilt/doll quilt or an easy sampler.

Thanks for the idea!
