My eight week old nephew, James, is hospitalized tonight with possible meningitis. This is so scary and I can only imagine how scared my sister is feeling. We were all hanging out together yesterday (group picture of all the grandkids), with one of my older girls holding him quite a bit as he drooled all over her, so I'm a little panicked myself, especially in regards to my baby's possible exposure if it is bacterial.

6/22- James is just fine. The meningitis concern was an over cautious reaction. It seems the doctor that did his LP in the ER had never done one on an infant and according to my sister, the whole procedure was a "bloody mess". All his blood work came back normal. No fever at all since Saturday night. I don't think the fever ever got over 101. They are chalking it up to a "virus" although they pumped antibiotics through him. And I guess they consider it complete coincidence that his fever started within 24 hours of his immunizations (he got 2 mega shots that included everything but the kitchen sink). Hopefully they will be home today. Her other son, Andrew (6 yo), gets his tonsils out today, so the fun never stops for my sister. Thanks for the prayers. They are all tired, but on the mend.

I am hoping and praying that it is not meningitis - btw there is a very ugly bug going around No Va with very very high fevers - some kind of viral thing - maybe it is that?

Wow! I'm so relieved it's NOT meningitis for the sweet one, but what a rough few days. Praying that Our dear Lord in His Mercy sends them a few peaceful, quiet days for all to recover their health...and their sanity - mine would be at near breaking point with all of this!
