Oh, Dearest Mother, Sweetest Virgin of Altagracia, our Patroness. You are our Advocate and to you we recommend our needs. You are our Teacher and like disciples we come to learn from the example of your holy life. You are our Mother, and like children, we come to offer you all of the love of our hearts. Receive, dearest Mother, our offerings and listen attentively to our supplications. Amen.

I was gone all day today, had to take dd8 for an ultrasound due to an enlarged spleen. Didn't get home until close to bedtime, and dh asks one child who they like better at home. The answer was "Daddy". He asked another child, but I didn't hear the answer as I had gone back to my room and was choking back tears. It feels like a big slap in the face that he would even ask them that. I'm concerned about his example and my son picking up habits of disrespect for me. I'm hurt and angry and crying my eyes out right now. Sorry for venting, but I have no one to talk to.

Please pray for us. Thank you.

Ditto what Viviane said.

Kids say stupid things sometimes. My second born has said some real whoppers. My DH reminds me often that kids his age often don't really understand the impact of their words.

He still gets a talking to and I let him know how he hurt my feelings as punishment if warranted. After all, I'm still his mom!

I'll be praying for you and your family. And sending you some more virtual hugs!

Praying for you..

Moms are rarely the "fun" person in a kids life.. we're the ones that make them work, chores and school, that is there all the time and familiarity breeds contempt you know, and in general are not the fun person.. but we're often the safe person, the one they know without doubt loves them.. it's really all in how you frame the question.

I'm praying for this intention! I agree with Jodie! Though the impact of those words hurt, when push comes to shove, a child needs his mother. Your role in this family is indispensable!

I'm praying for all of your intentions!

Praying for you!

Moms are the comfort for their children. When they are needy, they always look for their mother. Dads provide a bit of excitement in their lives. But as their mom, you will always be there for them!

That would hurt my feelings too, especially if I'd been doing yucky things like dr's appointments all day. However, you could look at it as an attempt on your dh's part to get some reassurance or good feedback from the kids? For whatever reason -- I don't know, sometimes dhs aren't as emotionally clued-in as women, and they try to make jokes or score points without realizing it's not quite the way to interact.

Praying for you! Take heart in the fact that no matter what anyone says or thinks of you, if you are doing your very best to live in God's ways, you are absolutely precious in His eyes. I have been around this kkind of hurt in my life, I can very much sympathize with your hurt.

Sometimes children look at things very differently, one moment they like Mom, the next they like Dad. And I know men and women communicate and think differently, your husband may not have any idea it hurt you. And I think Willa had a good point in that maybe your husband was seeking affirmation without truly meaning to hurt you. I know also that after a long day or when I'm tired I am more easily hurt, and emotional.

God bless you dear, and reward you for your faithful love for your family.

Also praying for your husband's respect for you, and your dear son. Can you share these concerns peacefully with your husband? I know it is hard to have these conversations, but they are important because if we don't a rift grows in our relationships.

Praying for the Holy Spirit to guide you and bring peace between you all. St. Raphael, God's healing Angel, pray for us!

Praying for you and yours ... but please do remember that it might have a very simple explanation ... maybe they had a fuss earlier where "well we love mom best" or "dad you don't know how to do such and such, mom is better" something may have come up.

I tend to knee jerk and get emotional about things and then find out later that I was the one causing the upset by jumping to conclusions ....

Hugs and prayers and hugs somemore!
