Whining a bit I am afraid. It was one of our first hot days of the season, the house really heated up today and I just can't sleep.
I have a houseful of company coming in about 36 hours fo my son's confirmation. I need to do about a million things and should be using this time productively. But I am sitting here being cranky. I either need to get to sleep or get to work.
Our air died 2 years ago, and we have survivied. My dh offered to buy a new one, but I said we could live without ac and the high electric bills it brings. And we have. I am just grumpy tonight.
Sigh...

Oh my goodness, with so much on your mind, I'll bet! The humidity woke me up too..I'm going to say a Divine Mercy Chaplet for your intentions dear LeeAnn, and hopefully by the end, we'll both be

Thank you!
I am trying to muster the ambition to put on my CD of the Rosary and just start cleaning. I know once I start moving, I will feel better. But my inner, whiny, child just doesn't want to....
Also, I know my in-laws are going to complain about the lack of AC. I am debating buying a small window unit for the bedroom they stay in, and then we can put it in our room on really hot nights and let our younger kids "camp out" in our room.

Ugh! I just checked the weather for tomorrow. High 90, low 77 and severe thunderstorms and high humidity. The high temps for the next week are around 90 each day. Welcome summer.
Yep! Home Depot here I come!
I did mop the floor and sort the laundry. So something has been accomplished.

Good for you, that's always a good feeling once that's done!

Never did get to sleep.
But the kids woke to a big breakfast: fresh srawberry waffles, bacon and eggs. I figure I won't want to cook later in the day so I better fill 'em at least once today
A storm front just blew through and the temp dropped 20 degrees in 20 minutes. But it supposed to climb t 90 this afternoon.

put your hair out of the way and a quick rinse in the shower with cool water can help beat that overheating feeling long enough for you to sleep or whatever.
By keeping your hair out of the way you don't have to do anything with it before sleeping either.

DUH! I forgot that I can turn on the whole house fan to pull air from the basement and spread the cooler air throughout the house. Today outside temps reached 88* and it didn't get about 79* in the house. I can cope with that!

I was reading this and thought "I wonder if this person lives in Illinois, because this is just what our day was like today. So I looked at your info, and sure enough!!! Too funny! I live in Central Illinois, how about you??

A little quote from my grandmother about working in the kitchen that your "whine" brought to mind:
"It's not the heat, it's the humility!"
