I just posted an annotated bibliography of resources (books, dvds, videos) we've used this year for American History. The listing starts with Pre-Colombian times up thru modern ... I'll be adding to this listing as we continue but thought I'd post in case anyone can use if for planning their own AH units ....
If I've missed good ones ... please post so I can add them as we use them ...

Can you tell me where you find the A&E, Hiistory Channel and PBS DVDs?

Well, some we've bought ... and many we find at the library (either directly from our branch our thru ILL).

Diana, if you have Netflix or Blockbuster, many of those documentaries can be rented, which is a nice option if your local library system is found lacking.

I have been poking around Netflix to see if I could get the videos through them, and I was pleasantly surprised to find so many!
Mary,
Would you have any reservations about any of the videos for a 9 year old girl? She's not sensitive or fearful, but she notices e-v-e-r-y-t-h-i-n-g so I try to be extra careful about what we watch.

Maybe if you gave me a specific video title I could judge better. Mine (10, 9 and 6) are all pretty observant and pretty sheltered and I don't THINK there was anything; but ask about a specific title or two and I'll double-check!
