Oh, Dearest Mother, Sweetest Virgin of Altagracia, our Patroness. You are our Advocate and to you we recommend our needs. You are our Teacher and like disciples we come to learn from the example of your holy life. You are our Mother, and like children, we come to offer you all of the love of our hearts. Receive, dearest Mother, our offerings and listen attentively to our supplications. Amen.

You must go to the Cathedral in St. Paul. Yesterday the Vatican announced it is the first National Shrine to the Apostle Paul. It is gorgeous.

MN Zoo is expensive - more bang for your buck at Como. Science Museum is very nice, also expensive.

Will you have a vehicle? When will you be here? The kids and I would love to meet you! Maybe we can get a group together....and go bug Margaret (MN Mom) and see that baby.

PM if you want to meet!

I have very fond memories of the Science Museum as a child. Is the huge lizard still out front? However, I am sure I would have a different perspective as a paying adult!

Have fun!!!

The local libraries (maybe Paula could help with this) have passes to get into the zoo for free. So if you find someone who lives in the area to help out with it....

We lived there last year and when we went back for a visit at the start of May, I still had my library card so we got to the zoo!

Another GREAT place (again, the library pass is the most ideal way to get in) is the Minnesota Children's Museum - you can spend all day there and never get bored (I'm talking about the adults too!). It is really fun.

I only did the Mall once - and that's when my mother came to visit so she footed the bill for the aquarium and all the rides at the amusement park.

I have a great family pass 69.00! from Boonschoft in Dayton, OH.
guess what? it has reciprocal science museums, AND zoos!!
so we can go to the zoo and the science center of minnesota for FREE!
I'm kind of at the mercy of when dh needs/has to have the car, I'm thinking that i'll be deciding in the late evening or even early the morning of what we will/can do each day. I'll pm you!
I ended up seeing alot of Denver with the kids on public transportation, it worked out great!
ok, definately going to get to the cathedral!!
we'll be there starting June 23rd.

No, they built a new Museum and the lizard is gone. I have lots of memories of that too!

I'm not sure if there is public transportation to the MN Zoo from the Bandana Square area, but Como is less than 3 miles.

Yes, if you have that pass go to Science Museum and Children's Museum. Both are downtown and you should be able to get a bus there and back.

J.J. Hill house is across the street from the Cathedral - fascinating home with hourly tours, I believe. The Governor's mansion is right down Summit Avenue, along with F. Scott Fitzgerald's home. Oh, and the apartment building where either Baby Face Nelson or Machine Gun Kelly was caught by Minnesota's finest. You can check out the Indian mounds up on the Mississippi River cliffs, and look out on Pig's Eye lake. Pig's Eye was the name of St. Paul, until a decision was made that the capitol should have a more distinguished name .

I'm heading here and MOA on the 25th, if you will be able to swing it!

Yes, yes, the Hill house is amazing.

If you have any train lovers there is a model train museum in the Bandana Square area.

We love the Art Institute and it's free!

If you like a little shopping, Linden Hills (west of Lake Harriet) has great children's toy stores and a book store with animals roaming around - The Wild Rumpus.

Loome Theological Booksellers in Stillwater is a favorite place we take Catholic guests.

I forgot about the Train museum! Perfect - it's right there!

I haven't been to the Art Institute . Tracy is right about Linden Hills and Loome, but they are in opposite directions and you'll need a vehicle.

I'm glad you posted this -- I forgot what was in my own backyard!

I lived in Hudson, WI until I was in 6th grade.

My favorite (embarrassing) story of St. Paul is this: In 4th grade we studied Wisconsin History and at the end of the year we took a field trip to St. Paul to the Capitol building. It look me a LONG time to understand that St. Paul was NOT the Capitol of Wisconsin!

I still miss the North Stars and Kirby Puckett on the Twins!!!!
