Dear Ladies,
Please keep us in prayer as we have the funeral for our dear little Philip Mary this Friday, the Feast of the Sacred Heart. While I miscarried almost a month ago, it took a long time for the bleeding to stop...and a while for us to secure special permissions to bury our son (who is not cremated) in a columbarium garden at our church, that is only reserved for cremated remains.
The upside to our experience is that our parish has now dedicated the whole section in front of the blessed virgin Mary statue as "babyland" and is reserved for miscarriages/stillbirths, etc. They felt like our situation was a powerful witness. It is the first time that they are holding a funeral/burial for a miscarried child. I am glad this opens doors for other families.
Ironically, my husband and I were married on the Feast of the Sacred Heart 6 years ago. The readings of the Lectionary rotate every 3 years...so...at my son's funeral, we are having the exact same readings that were said at our wedding, as this is the "3rd" year in the cycle.
We are actually very happy about this. Our parish is also called, "Sacred Heart", and we have had a devotion to the Sacred Heart since we started dating many moons ago.
So it all comes together on the Feast of the Sacred Heart this year.
Please keep us in prayer, as my heart hurts tremendously.
God Bless,
Maggie

Praying for you, and thanking God that you have shared the graces of Philip Mary's short life to bring understanding and compassion to your parish.
Thank you for sharing your story with us all.
