A review has been held of home education in England, because apparently "so many" children are at risk of abuse, and they are looking to tighten up our fairly relaxed current rules - much more oversight, the right to enter our homes, demand to see work, to question children on their own, to get us to set schedules and goals a year in advance and stick to them etc - and so much of it is about watching us to be sure we are not abusers. It is worrying. Please pray for us all - especially for calm and discernment and a helpful way forward.

Oh my...will definitely pray. My mom is British and I have relatives who are always asking questions about homeschooling, so I hold your country's hs laws near and dear to my heart...

This is so sad, because you can't help but to wonder that the word 'abuse' is used for a quieter agenda...praying to St George for this situation!

Praying, Lucy...I honestly have a hard time talking about such matters without getting upset. I'm a big fan of the principle of subsidiarty and...well, I'd better stop there  . Praying, praying, praying.

Praying ... how awful for all you wonderful home-educators! Praying and praying and praying that cooler heads realize the folly of such a step (which will lead to tighter an tighter controls till it strangles the home-schools completely!)
