Do you make playdough for your preschoolers? I really need to start - I am so unhappy with all the dough/clay I have tried. Beeswax seems too hard for the really little ones.
Any good ideas? Especially for my one year old who loves working with playdough but ends up eating it

I make some - I just pull up recipes online when I want to make it. I like the cooked ones better than the non-cooked - and it has to have both oil and cream of tartar to be really smooth like store-bought play-dough. Or I'll just do a flour/salt/water mixture (about 2 parts flour to one part salt - then I add more flour until I like it).
There are peanut butter playdoughs too, but you probably don't want to encourage the concept of eating the playdough!

I use this recipe...the kool-aid makes nice saturated colors and the dough smells heavenly....and even though it's no cook, I like it just as well as the cooked versions.
Kool-Aid Play Dough
I just made purple, orange, and blue today for a play date with my nephews and the kids played for well over an hour.
Used frosting containers make the perfect sized storage containers for this recipe.
I buy small wooden rolling pins from Oriental Trading and have that set of a hundred cookie cutters that is for play dough use only...it carries big entertainment value around here.

I have used this recipe and it turned out great every time. We used food coloring to color and essential oils to scent it.

I was going to suggest Kool-Aid playdough - but since Colleen already did, I'll just second that. We love it.

This is perfect - no cooking makes it even easier for me right now. Thank you

beeswax can be frustrating for little ones. Maybe eight years old and up is better?

Have you seen the playdoh creation ideas here?
My kids have been having a blast with them.
