Please pray for a good friend's sister.   Her name is Meredith and she is 22 weeks pregnant. She is having severe bleeding. The baby is proving to be fine by ultrasound. However Meredith has been hospitalized and has had to have at least 2 blood transfusions. The ideal is that she can get to 24 weeks but the doctors are worried she can not get that far losing so, so much blood.

Last night there was discussion about the very real need to possibly take the baby by c-section very soon because of Meredith's extreme loss of blood and what could become a severe threat to Meredith's life.

Please pray that by some miracle (doctors are perplexed by this bleeding, they had expected it to get better with time, not worse) this bleeding will stop or slow enough that Meredith can get through the next two weeks.
She obviously very exhausted and stressed, as is her dh. This will be their third child.

Update: June 17th

As of this morning, around 11:30am Meredith was prepped for surgery as the bleeding is so uncontrollable. She had another transfusion a day ago (she's had at least 3 or more in the last week and a half). She is not quite 23 1/2 weeks along. Please pray for her life and most certainly pray for the life of her sweet baby.

I'll update again when I hear more!

We had a patient like that once...........she managed to make it to 24 weeks, only.

The baby must be about 7 years old now.........with a few developmental delays but is catching up slowly.

Thanks ladies for the prayers for Meredith! Her sister tells me that this morning...

"No major decisions are being made right now. Her blood count is back up and the doctors got together again this morning and they have decided to wait this out again with some very careful monitoring of Meredith as we go."
