Oh, Dearest Mother, Sweetest Virgin of Altagracia, our Patroness. You are our Advocate and to you we recommend our needs. You are our Teacher and like disciples we come to learn from the example of your holy life. You are our Mother, and like children, we come to offer you all of the love of our hearts. Receive, dearest Mother, our offerings and listen attentively to our supplications. Amen.

Please add a prayer for my dear husband. He feels like we have nothing in common any more and is unhappy with our relationship. He said he feels like he's living with a nun in a convent and he doesn't fit in. He never has felt comfortable with religion and God (he's Catholic and goes to Mass with us) and never felt close to God and has always been fine with that. But now he feels like that's a bad thing but he doesn't necessarily want to do anything about it (he wants everything to get better on its own I guess.) He's a beautiful person...so generous and loving and kind. He just doesn't "get" the religion or God stuff. I've been praying the famous St. Joseph prayer every morning since last April. Maybe God is talking to my DH. Please pray for whatever he needs from God and for our marriage. Thank you so much. I pray daily for your needs even though I rarely post that I am.

Yes, I will pray for you and your husband. The St. Joseph prayers are great---he's such a wonderful intercessor!

Kelly, how wonderful that your dh has shared these feelings with you. I will pray with you that dh recieves what he needs from God and your marriage. You might work hard right now to show interest in his interests. Simply ask him what is interesting to him and you two pursue some of that interest together. Make sure he knows how important he is to you and that of course he fits in. My mother took up golf at the age of 50 merely to spend more time and share a passion with my dad. Now at 70 she is an avid golfer.

Whatever you do, keep up your prayers!

Kelly,

I will pray for you, too. Saint Joseph has done wonderful things for us, so we have been praying the Saint Joseph prayers for years, for my husband.

Last November, I decided we needed even more help for my dh from Saint Joseph, so we have added the Saint Joseph Litany to our morning prayers. Here is the litany, if you want to use it:

Litany Of Saint Joseph
Lord, have mercy on us.
Lord, have mercy on us.
Lord, have mercy on us.
Christ, hear us.
Christ, graciously hear us.

God, the Father of Heaven,
Have mercy on us.
God the Son, Redeemer of the world,
Have mercy on us.
God the Holy Ghost,
Have mercy on us.
Holy Trinity, one God,
Have mercy on us.
Holy Mary,
Pray for us.
Holy Joseph,
Pray for us.

Noble Son of the House of David,
Pray for us.
Light of the Patriarchs,
Pray for us.
Husband of the Mother of God,
Pray for us.
Chaste Guardian of the Virgin,
Pray for us.
Foster-father of the Son of God,
Pray for us.
Sedulous Defender of Christ,
Pray for us.
Head of the Holy Family,
Pray for us.
Joseph most just,
Pray for us.
Joseph most chaste,
Pray for us.
Joseph most prudent,
Pray for us.
Joseph most valiant,
Pray for us.
Joseph most obedient,
Pray for us.
Joseph most faithful,
Pray for us.
Mirror of patience,
Pray for us.
Lover of poverty,
Pray for us.
Model of all who labor,
Pray for us.
Glory of family life,
Pray for us.
Protector of Virgins,
Pray for us.
Pillar of families,
Pray for us.
Consolation of the afflicted,
Pray for us.
Hope of the sick,
Pray for us.
Patron of the dying,
Pray for us.
Terror of the demons,
Pray for us.
Protector of the holy Church,
Pray for us.

Lamb of God, you take away the sins of the world,
have mercy on us.
Lamb of God, you take away the sins of the world,
have mercy on us.
Lamb of God, you take away the sins of the world,
have mercy on us.

He made him master of his house,
and ruler of all his possesions.

O God, You were pleased to choose Saint Joseph as the husband of Mary and the guardian of your Son. Grant that, as we venerate him as our protector on earth, we may deserve to have him as our intercessor in heaven. We ask this through Christ our Lord. Amen.

also, I have heard one of the most efficacious prayers is a Rosary Novena.....three sets of nine rosaries, for petition........and three sets of nine, for thanksgiving, even if your prayers are not answered yet. Sometimes our husbands need those BIG GUN prayers

I agree with Victoria that is is good your dh could share his feelings with you.........but you must feel sad, he feels this way.

One of the things that helps is to realize that marriage can go in cycles, just like the rest of life.......honeymoon periods.......dry periods......happy times.........lotsa work times.....it might help your husband to think like that........and then see what he can do, with God's help and your prayers, of course.....to pull out of that time.

Are you on the HAPPYISTHEHUSBAND email list?

We are starting a rosary novena together, on the 24th of Jan.......for our husbands and our wifely vocations...so it ends in time for Saint Joseph's feast day. You are welcome to join:

http://groups.yahoo.com/group/happyisthehusband/

we also pray the first nine days of each month, a novena, for the same intentions. The email volume is low.......and it is focused specifically for us to pray for our husbands and for ourselves, and for advice and encouragement.

Would he be interested in "date nights" with you? My husband will not do it......(Iwishhewould!)...but my friend and her dh do.......and the way they do it is: one of them plans the "date" for the other one, every other time............and, it is not supposed to cost much money, if possible

It could be a good chance to get to KNOW each other better again......spend time laughing, if possible....and not worrying together. And, dates do not always need to be at night!

Well.......this is not very well worded.....just some thoughts that came to me while I was thinking today about what you wrote.

God bless both of you..........I will be praying your dh can hear what God is saying to him
