I woke up Sunday morning with a little stye on my left eye. Now (MOnday morning) it is so big that it obstructs my vision a litle bit and it is throbbing. Besides breastmilk (Whoever created that stuff sure did know what He was doing ) and warm compresses (tea bags in my case), what else can I do?
Not to mention that I can't exactly go around after four children with a tea bag on my eye all day. (where's the smiley for that one?)
I am going to see the doctor since we just got over mono last month and I feel a bit paranoid now.

Are the tea bags chamomile? I know those work well. Also, I've treated all our eye issues with a tincture I bought at the health food store called Kids Wellness Eye Wash Formula. It contains Chamomile, Eyebright, and Goldenseal in a food grade alcohol. I've read that you can use a Q-tip and dot on Tea Tree oil if the stye is on the outer part of the eyelid, but I've always been afraid to do this and get it into my eye. Ouch. I wish you the best!

I got some antibiotic drops from the dr. I don't want to risk it as I've been sick so much this year.
I will try chamomile, I'd been using this Irish tea and Earl Gray because that's what I like to drink.
thanks, y'all.

My daughter has battled a couple of styes. Some people claim that the tea bag compress has to be black tea, others say herbal like Echinacea or Eyebright. I do know that it has to be hot, not just warm. It's the heat that kills the bacteria. I have also heard that Raspberry Leaf tea makes a good eyewash. Brew the tea and let it cool to warm. Pour it into a clean eyecup and use as you would an eyewash. Just remember to clean it thoroughly before using it again.

I've had them off and on for a couple of years now. The first time I didn't know what it was, and it became a chelazion that had to be cut out - not fun.
Warm compresses a couple of times a day for a couple of days always makes them disappear. For preventative maintenance, mix a drop of baby shampoo with warm water in a small cup, use a q-tip to wash the rims of the eyelids daily. When I keep up with that regimen, I don't get them.

I went to the doctor and got antibiotic drops yesterday, but it's worse still this morning and now my other eye is starting to feel sore.
I'm starting to worry. I need my eyes!

This is what we do for dd, who used to get styes on a regular basis. Since starting this new regimen we haven't had any. Hope yours clears soon; they really hurt!

Whew!
Turns out I had some sort of infection in my eyelids. Both eyes ended up getting it. When I saw the doctor the second time, she called another doctor in to see it! Crazy! But it is much much better now thankfully. It still itches and hurts a tiny bit, but I don't feel so all over horrible like I did that first day.
So thanks for all the kind wishes and helpful advice and of course loving prayers. :)
