Oh, Dearest Mother, Sweetest Virgin of Altagracia, our Patroness. You are our Advocate and to you we recommend our needs. You are our Teacher and like disciples we come to learn from the example of your holy life. You are our Mother, and like children, we come to offer you all of the love of our hearts. Receive, dearest Mother, our offerings and listen attentively to our supplications. Amen.

I was hoping you could share with me your families tried and truly favourite CROCK-POT RECIPE!
I will start with ours:

EASY POT ROAST

* 1 boneless rump roast (3 to 4 lbs.) Important: ASK BUTCHER TO SEASON IT!
* 1 package of onion soup mix
* 3/4 to 1 inch of water

CUT ROAST IN 3rd's. PLACE IN A 5-qt. slow cooker. Pour water alongside the meat until the height of water is 3/4 to 1 inch high. Next pour onion soup mix on top of roast. Cover and cook on low for 8 hours.

*Delicious with mashed potatoes and a vegetable!*

This is our families 2nd favourite:

ITALIAN POT ROAST

* 1 boneless beef chuck roast (3 to 4 lbs.) ~ any roast will do!
* 1 can (28 oz.) diced tomatoes, drained
* 3/4 cup beef broth
* 1-1/2 tsp. salt
* 1 tsp. dried basil
* 1/2 tsp. dried oregano
* 1/2 tsp. minced garlic
* 1/4 tsp. pepper
* 1/4 cup cornstarch
* 1/2 cup cold water

** Cut roast in thirds. Place in a 5-qt. slow cooker.   Add the tomatoes, broth, salt, basil, oregano, garlic and pepper. Cover and cook on low for 5 to 5-1/2 hours.

** Remove meat to a serving platter; keep warm. Skim fat from cooking juices; transfer to a warm saucepan. Combine cornstarch and water until smooth. Gradually stir into pan. Bring to a boil; cook and stir for 2 minutes or until thickened. Serve with meat.

*Yummy with mashed potatoes and a vegetable!*

One of my favourite roast beef recipes is very similar to your first one:
Simply sprinkle roast with Worcestershire sauce. Mix a packet of onion soup mix and a can of mushroom soup in small bowl, and pour over roast. Cook on low (or high) until done.

Swiss Steak

1 1/2 lb steak (Cut into 6 servings)
2 C. grated carrots
2 stalks celery, sliced
1 onion, chopped
1 - 16 oz. can tomatoes
2 Tbsp each butter and oil
1/4 C. flour
2 t. dry mustard
salt and pepper to taste (quite a bit)
2 T. Worcestershire sauce
2 T. br. sugar.

Coat steak in flour, dry mustard, salt and pepper. Brown meat in 1/2 the oil and butter. Heat the remaining oil and butter. Saute onion, carrot and celery. Add tomatoes, Worcestershire sauce and br. sugar. Pour over meat. Cook on Low (200 degrees) for
6-8 hours. Serve with noodles.

(Fwiw, I just use a forkful of margarine or whatever I figure I need. It's still yummy.)

Scalloped Ham Potatoes

1 C. water
1/2 tsp. cream of tartar
5 med. potatoes, thinly sliced
1 C. chopped onion
Salt, sprinkle
Pepper, sprinkle

Sauce
1/4 C. all purpose flour
1 tsp. salt
1/2 tsp. pepper
2 C. milk

1 C. grated med. or sharp cheddar cheese (opt)
2 C. Cubed boneless smoked ham

Combine water and cream of tartar in large bowl. Stir. Add potato. Stir well. This will help keep potato from darkening. Drain. Layer potato and onion in 5 quart   (5 L) slow cooker. Sprinkle with salt and pepper.

Sauce: Stir flour, salt and pepper together in saucepan. Whisk in milk gradually until no lumps remain. Heat and stir until boiling. Pour 1/2 of sauce over vegetables. Sprinkle with cheese and ham. cover with remaining 1/2 of sauce. Cover. Cook on Low for 9 to 10 hours or on High for 4 1/2 to 5 hours. Serves 6.
