Oh, Dearest Mother, Sweetest Virgin of Altagracia, our Patroness. You are our Advocate and to you we recommend our needs. You are our Teacher and like disciples we come to learn from the example of your holy life. You are our Mother, and like children, we come to offer you all of the love of our hearts. Receive, dearest Mother, our offerings and listen attentively to our supplications. Amen.

This is a small request and minor compared to the needs of so many. But my oldest ds (16) is out on the coastal path with his best friend taking a hike. They are both scouts and have hiked at Philmont, but there is no adult there...just the two boys.

They are checking in at a camp every evening, but I really cannot reach them unless they have some sort of emergency (and hopefully that will not happen). I spoke to them this evening and they are doing great and having a great time.

It is just the first time for me to have him go off on his own. He has always been with my dh or with his scout troop. They are responsible boys, but if you could offer a small prayer for their safety, I would really appreciate it.

Thanks so much!

Wow, Carole, that sounds like a fantastic trip for those boys! Praying that they are safe throughout.

Peace,

Carole,
I'm praying for the both of you.

My oldest ds is planning a hiking trip this summer which makes me worry about:

* will he go solo or take a friend?
* will he get bit by a snake?
* or get his arm caught and trapped in a rock? (seriously)
* run out of water?
* have heat exhaustion or stroke in the middle of nowheres?
* drown
* get lost
* other worse-case scenerio

And he's 21 YEARS OLD going on 22 this September!

The mothering job of worrying never, ever ends!
Be guaranteed of my many, many, many prayers for you and your son. I hope he has a WONDERFUL time and comes home w/ lots to tell you.

I can only say that I can so relate to this statement! I have a very strong worrying bone in my soul.

I did hear from the boys today and they are doing great. The weather here has been sunny and wonderful...no rain (a rarity in the wilds of Wales). They have made all of their destinations as planned.

Now if I can just deal with the worrying...

I've been praying, Carole! Hope those boys are safe! When will they be home so you can breathe again?

Jen, the boys returned last night. They had planned to hike some more today, but the weather turned misty and rainy. They were cold and hungry, but after a good meal, they were fine.

Oh, yay! There's not much more a mom needs is there? Boys home and their tummy's full. Makes a mom feel so good.
