Oh, Dearest Mother, Sweetest Virgin of Altagracia, our Patroness. You are our Advocate and to you we recommend our needs. You are our Teacher and like disciples we come to learn from the example of your holy life. You are our Mother, and like children, we come to offer you all of the love of our hearts. Receive, dearest Mother, our offerings and listen attentively to our supplications. Amen.

Can anybody tell me what the difference is between the 3000 version and the original version?

It;s been years since I"ve used the original, but I know when we first switched to 3000 I was impressed that it was a better choice. The variety and type of exercises and activities really make you get a full sense of the words and their usage. Also, the reading comprehension bit (I think it's usually Part E) is a great way to learn all sorts of information about all sorts of things.

Peace,
Nancy

I think the 3000 series is harder than the original. Also the original series is really just vocabulary. The 3000 series has a lot of reading comprehension. If you are already doing reading comprehension and thinking skills I would stay with the original series.

I used two years of the older model and just recently bought the 3000 series for a different child. The 3000 series is much easier on the eyes, and it includes the definitions, even within the 8th grade book, whereas our experience with the 8th-up in the older series was that it requires you to find the definitions. I like the word choices in the older series a lot. I think they are the kinds of words one will find often in quality literature. Honestly, I think they are both fine in terms of word choice. If it bothers you to see a whole mess of type without a clean layout, though, I'd get the newer one.

Several weeks ago I found the Wordly Wise 3000 website where students can have additional practice online -- different "games" for each lesson. I plan to use it next year with several of my children
