Oh, Dearest Mother, Sweetest Virgin of Altagracia, our Patroness. You are our Advocate and to you we recommend our needs. You are our Teacher and like disciples we come to learn from the example of your holy life. You are our Mother, and like children, we come to offer you all of the love of our hearts. Receive, dearest Mother, our offerings and listen attentively to our supplications. Amen.

Anyone have this? I've been in a lot of pain over the last two days. The pain is in my heal and sometimes I just can't walk on it. I looked it up last night and this seems to fit what I have: plantar fasciitis. We just moved into a house of all wood floors and I'm gaining weight with my pregnancy. I think that is what has brought it on.

Anyway.....any home remedies? My husbands grandmother uses a tennis ball to massage her foot while sitting. I'm wearing my running sneakers that I had specially fitted. Any other advise?

Yes! Have you searched the archives? There's a thread somewhere where we discussed this....

My biggest advice: stretch your calf muscles! That means pointing the heal. When it flares, I do this frequently, esp. before getting out of bed and when I get in bed at night. It's the overly tight calf muscle pulling on the fascia that causes the pain. Maybe a little heat on the muscle while you stretch will help. I often do my stretches during the end of a hot shower, while my tissues are warm and loose.

And wear shoes (supportive ones like you have). Being barefoot aggravates it.

Thank you, Tami! I tried a search and only came up with someone mentioning that they had it. If you know where this was discussed, could you please send the link? I have to admit, I'm not good at the searching.

Wearing the running sneakers is helping me get through the day. I'm also stretching, but the pain is still there.

There are special soles you can put in your shoe and a "boot" you can wear when you sleep. I found the FootSmart catalog had some helpful products. I had relief after a visit to the chiropractor. Mine has started to flare up again recently. I should schedule another visit and maybe try to drop some of these extra pounds I've been carrying for to long.

That's it! Thank you, Mary.

And Jenn, keep stretching. It will take some time. I used ibuprofen to help with the pain, but that's not an option for you at the moment. That's why I suggest the heat.

I had a bad flare up a couple of years ago...barefoot, pregnant, on hard floors...Someone suggested Crocs Rx. After wearing them faithfully (even to church) for a good month or two, I was completely relieved of the pain. I still wear my crocs constantly around the house, but they don't have to be the Crocs Rx anymore. In fact I just ordered some Croc flip flops for the summer & love them!

(For some reason, I had to wear the Crocs Rx with the strap down around my foot or I would not get the pain relief. Now it does not matter.)

Stretching DEFINITELY!!! Stretch when it hurts, stretch after taking a shower, stretch before you step out of bed. I also wore either good tennis shoes during the day or Birkenstocks (they make another brand called Betula that is less expensive and those work too). It might take a few months but will get better!

Here is a link to some exercises.

Thank you, Matilda for the link to the stretches. The idea of using the frozen juice can is perfect. I've been trying to find an easy way to apply cold and this fits the bill!

Mary, thank you for the thread! I've located a local doctor who sells the Crocs RX. I may stop by to try some on. The sneakers are helping, but with the heat and being pregnant, I need a cooler shoe!

Thank's to all of you, I'm hopeful this can be managed!

I also have PF in both feet and those stretches work great. One thing I noticed though, is that they didn't mention (or I completely missed) how long to stretch for and my dr. was very specific that the stretches should be held for a minimum of 30 seconds. Most people think 10 seconds is enough but 30 is what really gets the muscles warmed up and stretched out.

Superfeet insoles are also great for helping out. I put them in all my sneakers, soccer shoes and whatever I wear most frequently.

I am the one who originally posted that prayer request and I can tell you that most of the time I have zero pain in my heels now. The Crocs (regular ones --didn't know about the RX kind) were a huge help. Once I got over them being ugly I started to really like them and the pain relief they gave me was worth the cuteness loss factor by far.

And because of wearing them regularly I can even get away with wearing cute (and totally impractical) shoes occasionally.

I did the stretches last night before I went to bed and rolled my foot on a round container I had in my freezer. When I woke up this morning, the pain was way less than yesterday.    I located a doctor that sells the Crocs Rx Relief shoe. I may go over there to try them on. I need a shoe that will be cool for the HOT summer in NC. I don't like open toed shoes, so I'm hoping these will work.

I'm wondering what most of you seem to prefer, the gel insoles or cushion inserts?

I'm so happy this seems manageable!

It is very manageable and can even completely disappear. My doctor said the same as Kristina's. The stretches have to be long stretches. She said to stretch, hold and then try to stretch a little further at the end of the stretch. My PF came on at the end of a pregnancy and lasted many months but is gone today. So glad you are getting some relief!

Are the CrocsRX only sold by doctors?

Michelle, where did you get your Crocs and what kind are they?

Absolutely! Mine may only flare a couple of times a year, and stretching + watching what shoes I wear takes care of it quickly. I'm usually barefoot or in slippers in the housem otherwise.

Glad you're feeling relief!

I had the best relief by doing the towel stretch BEFORE I got out of bed in the morning.

The first pair I got were knock offs from Target and are great --the second pair were just these regular Crocs:

that I ordered online at Shoebuy.

But honestly the knock offs from Target work just as well for me --but I like that the Crocs above are Made in the USA.

BTW, if you look for them in Target --they are in the gardening section. Also the Target ones are a little narrower --not overly so but I can tell a difference between the two kinds.

Thanks Michelle! I just might pick up a pair as an alternative to my Betulas. You might give those a look if you are interested in a more sandal like alternative.

I have the knock offs from Target, too. I want to make the comparrison to the RX ones, since I have been wearing the knock offs and I still have the problem. Everyone's feet are different, so maybe I need extra support? I'll let you all know what I find out.

As far as the Berkinstocks or the Betulas, they are just too hard for my feet. I've tried to like them, but they just hurt.

I ordered my crocs rx from crocs online. I think there is a huge difference in "croc-offs" and the real deal, whether they are rx or not.

Well, I tried on the RX Relief and Silver. I noticed a difference between the knock off and the Relief, but not much between the REAL Crocs and the Relief. Big difference with the Silver, but that one would not be necesary for me.

Again, I believe it will depend on you and your foot/feet. I'm going to go check out the regular real Crocs and see if any of the many styles will work.

BTW...very little pain this morning.    The stretches are KEY!!!
