Oh, Dearest Mother, Sweetest Virgin of Altagracia, our Patroness. You are our Advocate and to you we recommend our needs. You are our Teacher and like disciples we come to learn from the example of your holy life. You are our Mother, and like children, we come to offer you all of the love of our hearts. Receive, dearest Mother, our offerings and listen attentively to our supplications. Amen.

I am looking for a new scent and just can't decide. I'm looking for something very subtle and clean smelling. Not too flowery and not too expensive. I've been using baby powder but it's a little too sweet for me.

I was just curious what other moms wore.

Thanks!

My favorite scent is Le Jardin. But it's impossible to get anymore.

So what I did was find some of those online perfume sites (like http://www.fragrancenet.com ) that give lovely descriptions of the various scents.. and got a "verbal" description of that perfume. Then started hunting around for current scents that aren't so expensive as to make it a rare treat to use rather than one I can wear just cause I wanna. And found ones similiar in description to my all time favorite.. and then went to the store to actually smell some of the ones that seemed promising and choose from there.

It really helped me to do the research before I went to the store so that my poor nose didn't go numb from sniffing scents.. many of which I wouldn't even like anyway (I can't use a musk scent.. smells really weird *on* me)

The funny thing I found when I did this.. is that the scents my grammy and my mom used to wear all the time.. were very similiar to the one I use (my sister too I think) though we each picked something that had a very distinct scent.

Anyway, what I use now is Vanilla Fields.. it has the light floral scent with the warmth of the vanilla. DH likes it.. and it's something I can afford to buy and wear everyday if I want to.

Oh the other thing I had to decide was why I wanted to wear perfume again.. and I decided it was for me.. so I didn't need to wait for dh to be around or for going out special or anything.. I wear it often though not always every day.. just a spritz so it lasts a good length of time even so.

I LOVED "Le Jardin", Jodie!!!

My sister and I love perfume! I don't wear it all the time, but occasionally as a "pick-me-up" and in the winter, I spray it on my gloves and smell the scent in the nice cool air!!! The key to perfume imho, is "just a bit".

DH doesn't care one way or another about perfume.....so I use it for me. I've gone through phases of liking the different types of scents throughout the years.....flowery, fruity, spicy.    I go through rotations.

My sis knows a "perfume distributor" that gets samples for her, and she passes them on. We also find open testers for GREAT DEALS on ebay!!!

Here are my current favs:
Innocent, by Thierry Mugler. Blend of honey, chocolate, caramel and is blended with notes of vanilla, patchouli, and sandalwood. Not something I normally like, but I LOVE this.
Alien, by Thierry Mugler. Jasmine.
LouLou by Cacharel. Hard to find in the U.S. I have friends traveling abroad get it for me at the airports every 5 years or so. It's been a favorite for almost 20 years now.
Coco Mademoiselle by Chanel.

Testing perfumes at the department stores is about the only thing I miss about the Malls. But, testing the scents at Sears is almost as fun.   I liked one of the Celine Dion scents a couple years ago, but never bought it.

I just discovered the store, L'Occitane.   My mother has eau de toilette and soaps from this store, which was my introduction. I found a sample for their newest scent, peach blossom, and was intrigued. I haven't had a perfume in years...but for this Mothers' day I am getting a bottle of Peach Blossom Eau de Toilette. YiPEEEE!   It is light and fruity, but not too sweet

My favorite, but a bit costly, is "Happy" by Clinque.
It is very subtle and fresh smelling with a bit of citris.
