Wow, that was a frustrating afternoon!!
My ds makes his FHC next weekend, and I need a pair of dressy brown shoes to go with his suit. Of course, I need the shoes now so we can get the pants hemmed.
This is what I want
When I got to Sears, they didn't even have the brand in stock. I went to seven different stores, and while they carry this type of shoe, its always in black.
He looks so handsome in his suit, and I don't to ruin it with a pair of shoes that dosesn't go!
Does anyone know of an independently owned shoe store around here? You know, the way it was when we were kids?? From the looks of what's in the stores, we may be forced to wear crocks or sketchers! As it turns out, I might have to go up to Dulles to Rack Room Shoes, but I have to call to make sure what's on thier website is actually in stock.
You know, maybe I could have sold him on the cream dress shoes with the faux alligator skin down the front of them....

Wow. Serious overuse of the laughing face on my part.
My apologies!

sometimes you need to laugh so you don't cry.. but I have no clue where to find brown dress shoes.. usually finding even the black dress shoes can be tricky since the dress shoes are so casual at times
definately use the phone..
have you tried a phone book? a yellow page search online? and then just go down the list calling to find out if they have a brown dress shoe in the right size.. and be sure to ask for the person's name and note name and time of call.. they'll be less inclined to lie just to get you in the store if they know you can finger them for the one that did it.

Jen, that was actually the last place I looked today! The kicker was when I was leaving, I walked past a display of no less than 10 white girls dress shoes, appropriate for FHC. As it turns out, RRS does have them, so we'll take a road trip up there tomorrow.
Calling around is a good idea, Jodie, but I found that "boys dress shoes" meant different things to different people! I was afraid of getting a false positive and driving for nothing! But, if you're in the market for dressy shoes in black, I've got a list of stores where you can find them!!

maybe if you say they should be like a men's shoes that would be worn with a 3 piece suit you could get a better answer?
this year I need girls white dress shoes which I have saved since they don't get much wear

We used to go to the Buster Brown in Centreville, but after following the link it seems like it could now be this place? If not, the Buster Brown was awesome for boys' shoes.
(Buster Brown was in a little strip mall near Giant, facing across the street towards the Shoppers. Not sure if either of those are still there either!)

[QUOTE=Anne McD]This is what I want
I bought shoes exactly like this at Kohl's for my boys--we have the black lace up and the black slip on. Not cheap, but they also are altar servers so we get our use out of them. Good luck!

The owner has gone through several name changes, so it might be the same. Owner's name Sharon, I believe?

Have you tried Zappos. Stefoodie has a blog post about how awesome their return policy is. So, you could order a couple of different shoes, try them on, and send back the ones you don't want without penalty. You might have time if you ordered today!

I'm actually all set! I drove out to Dulles this afternoon and got these
Molly- I looked at Khols, but they didn't have anything at the time. That's where I got his suit, and was hoping to do it all in one fell swoop, but of course,...
I do want to try Zappos, Lindsay, but I don't know about you, but all shoe sizes seem to be relative! I'm afraid I'd have to order three different sizes in shoes to make sure we got the right fit, and I still need them asap so we can hem them (I'm not even going to try-- we're going to the dry cleaner!)
Thanks for all the leads, ladies-- I'll keep them in mind for the futre.
