Oh, Dearest Mother, Sweetest Virgin of Altagracia, our Patroness. You are our Advocate and to you we recommend our needs. You are our Teacher and like disciples we come to learn from the example of your holy life. You are our Mother, and like children, we come to offer you all of the love of our hearts. Receive, dearest Mother, our offerings and listen attentively to our supplications. Amen.

We keep wanting to start a Mary Garden, but I'm missing one little element -- a statue. I'm looking for a stone or cement one, heavy. It's now becoming a little obsession. The ones I'm finding are lacking definition to the face (like it's so worn you can barely see it), or the face is ugly, with a very big wide, flat nose. The very beautiful perfect one was over $200. I think 24-36 inches is what we're looking for.

I didn't think this would be so difficult (it's a definite indicator that I'm so picky). Anyone in the Virginia/DC Metro area that can recommend sources? OR even places near Altoona or State College, Pennsylvania? We tried a place in Ebensburg, but struck out. Locally I've tried Southern States, and someone recommended Home Depot, so I'm off to try that later this week.

It's now becoming an obsession.

This is the store of a friend of ours. I've always known them to carry good quality stuff (none of it made in China)Resin Statues

I found a beautiful concrete garden statue of Our Lady of Grace in Front Royal at The True Vine a few years ago. You might call before driving out there.

Lindsay that is an amazing shop...I'm so excited to find an Our Lady of Guadalupe outdoor statue and at a reasonable price! Woohoo, thanks for the link!

Oh and on another note...I haven't found them, but I hear that the Catholic Shop Jenn carries a plastic statue that you fill with sand (a friend of mine has one). From a distance it looks marble actually. She said it was about $35.

I bought a statue of Our Lady of Guadelupe at Walmart Last year - First I asked hubby to make a hole in it and fill it up 1/2 way with concrete to make it heavy. Then, I painted it with acrylic paints to make it more beautiful, then I covered it with outdoor polyeurothane.

It is perfect!

Jennifer, I goofed ! It's Faithful and True (not The True Vine!) in Front Royal...which you probably already knew, but I remembered when I checked the IHM conference vendors. Sorry about that! Hope the statue hunt is going well.

Jenn,

I saw a Mary statue in our local Giant.....$19.99.....not stone or cement. I will say I was very surprised to see her there. I think they had a St. Francis too.
