When you used vol 1 did you use Oxford First Ancient History for the logic stage? I noticed that unit X finishes about half way through the book. Does Volume II use the same book? does it pick up where vol.I ends?

In my downloaded version of Vol. II, that level switches over to The Old World and America, finishes Bible History, continues with Famous Men of Rome, and then switches to Famous Men of the Middle Ages in Unit 5. I do see on the St. George Books website that Light to the Nations is suggested as an alternative to OWA.

Actually, Vol 1, Unit X finishes with Greek History. That leaves the last section of the book, The Romans, which is about 150 pages (9 chapters).

It would probably be easy enough to continue using it if you already have the book, since the first five units of Volume II cover through the Fall of the Western Roman Empire.

I'm not sure why the Oxford book wasn't continued to be scheduled in Vol. II. Perhaps it has gone out of print?

Yes. My dd is in 7th grade, is using the Oxford book and really likes it. I thought it would be a dry, dull, lots of facts, more textbooky than we care for sort of a book, but it turns out that while it does contain a great deal of info, it is also very engaging. There's a chapter on the houses and everyday life in Sumer, lost toy cupboard in Ancient Egypt, clothes and hairstyles of Greece (which my dd loved). We skip some of the chapters (because of content), but overall have found it fascinating. My thoughts would be that it is appropriate for logic level and above.

No, and I'm not sure why. The book is not oop. It would be fine to continue using as you study Roman History. It covers things like time and the roman calendar, expanding of the early roman empire, games and pastimes, gladiators, roman roads. It takes you to the end of the Roman empire with a short chapter dedicated to the Byzantine Empire and the legacy of Rome. There is a substantial amount of the book left after RC History vol I leaves it.
