Oh, Dearest Mother, Sweetest Virgin of Altagracia, our Patroness. You are our Advocate and to you we recommend our needs. You are our Teacher and like disciples we come to learn from the example of your holy life. You are our Mother, and like children, we come to offer you all of the love of our hearts. Receive, dearest Mother, our offerings and listen attentively to our supplications. Amen.

Four "surprise" pets hatched at our place last Thursday. We weren't sure if the 4th would live as it hatched a whole day later than the other 3 and ds "helped" it into the world. We had 2 broody hens which I think on reflection was not a good idea as they both vigilantly guarded the eggs rather than looking after the newborn chicks. But to date all four are doing well without parental supervision and love being held and cuddling up to their sisters.(note the inference here...we don't want any more roosters!)I posted more pictures on my blog

They are beautiful!!! Congratulations!

We're going to be getting some eggs for our broody hen(s?) to sit this week! I hope we have as much success.

YAY!

Praying for hens!

My friend once let a broody hen sit on her 8 eggs......and ended up with 8 roosters!

Do chickens have ears?!! Mine are not "hearing" about your friend Chari. Someone once told us that silky bantams are blue skinned so people don't tend to breed them for meat, but I'm not sure how true this is as we've never tried to pluck one! All 4 are doing really well, they love getting out of their "play-pen" and pecking for food on the rug. They also like to splash in their water dish...so they think their ducks?!!
