Oh, Dearest Mother, Sweetest Virgin of Altagracia, our Patroness. You are our Advocate and to you we recommend our needs. You are our Teacher and like disciples we come to learn from the example of your holy life. You are our Mother, and like children, we come to offer you all of the love of our hearts. Receive, dearest Mother, our offerings and listen attentively to our supplications. Amen.

While at daily Mass, during the homily the priest used Susan Boyle as an example of humanity soaring beyond appearance. I had no idea what he was talking about but many others at Mass did. So I searched and...here she is, Susan Boyle.

Love,

Isn't she amazing????

This link is a little longer. More of the judges reactions, and also you get to see her backstage a little more. It makes me tear up every time I watch it (that song gets me anyway...) That is a hard song, and wow did she nail it.

What makes me so sad is how everyone was so surprised. People can be so shallow.

Amazing. Even though the British crowds were cynical, I love that people in their 40's are at least welcome in the competition. AI is a sea of kids, in comparison...

she kept her word didn't she? She said she was going to rock that house and she sure did!

loved it!

I may have to watch the season to see how she fairs in comitition. bet you they try to get her to change her entire appearance to look more the expectation.

I was very upset from the start though. I don't care what she looked like or her age - I could not beleive people were actually laughing and jeering at her when she walked on stage. I wanted to just smack them for their hateful rudenss. They could be cynical all they wanted, but their behavior was appalling and cruel. I'm glad she was able to give them what-for with her amazing talent (she took professional sining lessons for 12 yrs btw - glad it paid off!), but can you imagine not only getting judged negatively, but having that crowd treat you that way on top of it? *shudder*

I agree I hate the AI is only for kiddies. It's not american idol, it's let's worship youth idol.

ug. dh likes them, but I'm not a fan. I'd never seen british or american talent and only a few of AI.

Oh she was wonderful!!! And having to face all that mean, rude, hateful behavior and still keep her composure and try to sing in the face of it...oh she is amazing!! Thanks so much for the link.

Best part is, she's a devout Catholic! How great is that??? Wouldn't it be wonderful if she made a CD of great Catholic hymns...I can't wait!

I already vented to Mama a little bit earlier today, but I have to say... that audience shocked me. What kind of world did those people grow up in? I grew up in an atmosphere that never expected the Hollywood looker types to be the only ones who could sing. Anybody could have an astounding voice, and they were appreciated for that. There was no pre-judging. When it came to music it was about music, not about looks. Golly. I just don't get it.

Wasn't she the greatest, though? She was just so cheeky and cute, and she was in charge the instant she stepped out on that stage. She knew it... took a little while for everyone else to figure it out, though... just until she started singing. Then they got it.

I totally enjoyed watching her WOW everyone in that audience! I'm hoping that she'll sing "Ave Maria" soon!

Well, my dream of singing "I Dreamed A Dream" is over.    Especially now that she blew it out of the water. Not kidding! I've caught a few of the AI episodes and would say to my husband, "Why don't they sing good songs. I would sing I Dreamed a Dream from Les Mis." Not only did she sing it beautifully, but with such simplicity and poise. The follow-up to my comment to my husband was, "But, I would only end up crying during the song since I do when I sing it at home with the kids."    So, I'm always impressed when someone can sing a powerful song and not loose it! I'm adding her to my prayers!
