I need help! I want to do a candle craft with my Little Flowers this Friday and I'm stumped. Our meetings are at church, so we can't do anything requiring heat. Last year we made little votive holders and decorated the glass votive with stickers and ribbons and filled the votive with the small candle and little glass beads. I'd like to change it up a little this time. How can we decorate a candle without heat? Any other candle craft ideas or candle holder ideas that can be completed without heat? Thanks so much!!

I've seen votive holders done with thinned glue and colored tissue paper.
Can you do stickers or pins on a pillar candle? or paints?

Do you mean just heat from a flame?
You could use a heat gun (an accelerated hair dryer really) that just requires electricity. I have embossed candles this way and can explain further if you want. But it would require a heat gun.

I'm assuming you meaning heat like a stove. Could you use a heat embossing tool though? There are some neat design transfer crafts for candles using images (stamped or drawn) on tissue paper.

Similar to the above link, Hearthsong sells thin beeswax sheets and candle decorating pens to cut out and put on candles. They are fabulous. That's how I decorated our home Paschal candle. I know it's short notice to get the supplies, but there is a way to decorate without heat.

Correct, I cannot use a flame to melt/dip wax. My problem with the heat embossing tool is that if all the girls come we have over 20 girls, ages 5-12, who would be decorating candles. There's just not enough time for each one to use (or have help using) the heat. I was hoping there would be a way to decorate the candle itself without heat, but the girls will be thrilled to do Joann's tissue paper votive.
Keep the ideas coming, though, because I have no candle experience whatsoever and need all the help I can get! My preference is still to decorate a candle and not a votive (largely to save on expenses, although I admit to knowing nothing about candle decorating supply costs!). I don't go to Michael's for supplies until lunchtime tomorrow. Thanks so much!!

You can just paint them. Acrylic paint seems to be the kind to use. Here are some other tips.
There is a Candle painting medium to help adhere the paints to the candle.

I know this is late but we've been making our own Easter Candles for over 10 years and this is how we do it.

Trish, that is beautiful!
So, Molly, what did you end up doing? I'm sure it was wonderful!
