Our Diocese went to red robes a few years ago- covers everyone up, as some girls, even with printed guidelines, were arriving dressed inappropriately...
my sister got her wedding gown from Latter Day Bride!

When I had mine back in NJ in the 80's, we all had white robes with red collars, and red beanie caps.
I find LDS sites to be great resources for all sorts of modest clothes, from fancy to trendy & modern...

Is it traditional to wear white at a confirmation? I've only had one child be confirmed, a boy, and I didn't notice that the girls were wearing white, but maybe I wasn't paying attention??? My dd is going to be confirmed this April, and we are still looking for the perfect outfit.

I think it will probably vary from parish to parish...bishop to bishop. We attend the traditional Latin rite, and our priest has requested young ladies in white for Confirmation.

At our daughter's confirmation, I was surprised to see so many girls dressed in all white and some even wearing veils (like a First Communicant). Many of the young men were dressed in all white too. Since there was no dress code, I had assumed that she should be wearing red. Thankfully, others did to and there was a good mixture of white and red.

Red? Is that traditional? Now I am completley flummoxed. What is the tradition for Confirmation???

Books,
I think red because it is the color of the Holy Spirit. Sometime at Pentecost you see people wearing red. That's my guess.
At the Confirmation we went to back in November everyone wore a red robe.

yep! this is what I learned in my Liturgy class, too..
the nice thing about the robes is that absolutely no one fusses about clothes!! too fancy, not fancy enough, not modest enough, etc. the kids are still supposed to dress nicely, but it is more- no jeans, no athletic shoes type thing.
whew! a new suit was just not in the budget for April!
