Dd 13 has been reading A Child's History of England by Dickens. It was on the reading list for a program we are loosely following. She is very disturbed by his anti-Catholic talk. She is mature enough to understand it and sort out the facts vs bias, but she is disappointed.

She is reading Barnaby Rudge now and almost put it down when she found that it had religious themes, worrying that there would be more Catholic bashing. She did decide to read it, but overall her view of Dickens has been diminished.

I guess I haven't read enough Dickens because I hadn't encountered that.

GK Chesterton wrote a lot about Dickens. You might look for some of his writings on Dickens to offer your daughter a trusted Catholic perspective/commentary.
