We are moving in a few months and since part of our relocation will be covered by dh's new job we decided to spring for a free in-home estimate from a moving company (we pack it, they load, drive and unload--this would be a dream-come-true for me!). The price was way more reasonable than I thought so I hope we can swing it but . . .

We have 7007 POUNDS of stuff! Right after the estimate I went and purged several pounds of paper from my filing cabinet and I've just been walking around all day looking at stuff we could potentially throw out. That is so much stuff. I hope we do use the moving company just so I can get a new weight again in three months and see how much I was able to dump!

You can do it!!! and moving is great motivation.. don't just think.. someone else will pack and move it.. think about what you're gonna have to do at the other end to get it all put away...

DEFINATELY declutter.. find someone around there that will take donations of all sorts of stuff and then start carting things to them

When we moved 4 years ago we had a dumpster brought to the house. We literally threw a TON of things away. They charged by weight and it was a ton, we couldn't believe it!
