My fil has been in and out of the hospital for about 3 weeks with surgeries related to blocked arteries. He was supposed to be having a simpler surgery done today and we just got a phone call that they have found something else wrong and for dh to "please get down here right away in case..."
Please pray.

Thank you so so much! We've all been sick with worry this afternoon. Turns out they were worried his heart valve wouldn't make it through general anesthesia, so the surgery they did today (cleaning an infected incision) they did under a local.  I cannot imagine how awful that must have been, but he is stable. Now they are saying he's going to need valve replacement. 
In the meantime, my mil finally broke down. DH is with her at the hospital and she is so disoriented she forgot why she was there, what state she was in, all sorts of normal things. FIL is 68, MIL is 65. She's coming home with dh tonight and will spend the night with us and dh is taking off work to help her out tomorrow (She doesn't drive so she needs rides to the hospital each day, which is an hour away...). Don't know what's happening beyond that.
Your prayers are so precious to me. Thank you everyone.

Books - I've been praying, but wanted to come right over and let you know that we're holding this situation close to our hearts in prayer. How heartbreaking and frightening for all involved.
May God grant you and your dh the supernatural strength and wisdom needed to navigate the next few days...and the beyond. Praying as well that the Divine Physician would offer physical healing and comfort to your fil, and tender mercy to your mil.

You know what is weird is this is the first time we've dealt with something like this, and I am feeling keenly how hard it is to be available to help with a big family in tow. I feel guilty, somehow, that I cannot do more, but I don't know what to do about it, or even if I should???
