Oh, Dearest Mother, Sweetest Virgin of Altagracia, our Patroness. You are our Advocate and to you we recommend our needs. You are our Teacher and like disciples we come to learn from the example of your holy life. You are our Mother, and like children, we come to offer you all of the love of our hearts. Receive, dearest Mother, our offerings and listen attentively to our supplications. Amen.

It's not really a textbook per se. There is a teacher's manual with lessons to be presented and a student book with pages that correlate. The student pages make flip books or other interactive materials although some are just filled out. A child doesn't need to be able to read if you read the relevant bits for him; this was a point in its favor when I used it long ago. It's also not restricted to one grade -- it can be used as a whole program for a year for an elementary child* or as a supplement for more than one year.

I used this program both ways years ago. I am planning to use it again next year as a supplement for my son.

In Christ,

I've used it for many years with children about gr.2 and up to gr.6. It works well as a supplement to nature studies. They do enjoy making the flip books alot.

I remember seeing Dr.J.Wile at a homeschool conference years ago, and although he didn't recommend other science curriculum for the elementary ages - other than the nature journal type approach - he did say he thought that Considering God's Creation was a great resource. I think now he's actually put out some curriculum for those ages, but I haven't looked at them.

We like it and use it as a supplement. The first time I used it with one of our older children I tried to work straight through the program. It could have worked, but I found that some of the activities were far to easy and then others were over his head. My 2nd grader is doing the pages related to animals now. We skipped the categorizing activity (pictures of animals that are cut out and put into piles of fish, mammal, bird, etc.) but went through the lesson which had parts that were at a higher level. The lessons build within themselves, but not necessarily across lessons so you can pick and choose what topics to cover. I know she'll love and be challenged by the animal detective activity that's coming up soon. Second is probably the perfect age for most of the activities, but I have used it with older children.

Simply Charlotte Mason uses it with their "106 Days of Creation Studies." I've used it for my 5th grader and some of it for my 3rd grader in combination with the "Creation Studies." My 5th grader liked it fine, but some of it was too hard for my 3rd grader and I would not use it for anyone below third grade.
