Oh, Dearest Mother, Sweetest Virgin of Altagracia, our Patroness. You are our Advocate and to you we recommend our needs. You are our Teacher and like disciples we come to learn from the example of your holy life. You are our Mother, and like children, we come to offer you all of the love of our hearts. Receive, dearest Mother, our offerings and listen attentively to our supplications. Amen.

Do any of you have any techniques or regimen that you follow heading into allergy season to prepare your body to fight off the allergies?

Every year I mean to start my son on Astragalus a month before allergy season and I always forget. I am wondering what other things I should be doing in addition to that.

The poor kid asked me the other day if he would always have allergies. It seems that as soon as it gets nice out, his allergies kick in. It's just not fair.

Does he have only the itchy eyes and sinus symptoms or does he also have the itchy skin too??

The reason I ask is this is always about the time I have to start my youngest daughter on her meds because she starts sniffling. But she also will eventually experience a horribly itchy and uncomfortable skin reaction too. I try to start the daily baths in Mapo oil and generous lather of super moisturizing lotion now before her skin really starts to get inflamed. I like to think that prevents it from being as bad as it could be if I waited until later when she really gets bad.

vitamin C

and nettles

and if you can get local honey you can try that.. it's sorta a desensitation process.. since the honey is likely made from the pollens that he reacts to.. but you need to watch for reactions etc.. so be careful with that.

His problem is mostly the itchy, swollen eyes. He just feels miserable when they start.

I forgot about the honey! I better get some this week. I take nettles when I am congested because I read about it in my book for herbals for breastfeeding, but I hadn't considered it for the kids. Thanks for that tip!

I control mine with the vit. C. it works great.. I'm just cautious with it in children.
